Happy Valentine's Day!

John Cusack blasts his love
Hopefully the neighbors heard John Cusack blasting "In Your Eyes" -- for tips on circulating love, check out the article "Valentine's Day in the Sign of Aquarius?" below.

TAROTSCOPES

*Check out your Sun Sign as well as Rising Sign – as those are the two “stories” going on in your life.

Aries    Taurus    Gemini    Cancer

Leo    Virgo    Libra    Scorpio

Sagittarius    Capricorn    Aquarius    Pisces

ARIES

Jupiter, the planet of luck and fortune, is in your sign until June – a nothing-short-of awesome astrological aspect, offering you gifts of expansion, spiritual growth, prosperity, and a whole lot of luck. Your confidence and immediate environment will improve, and you'll be greeting the world with a lot of optimism and spunk -- even more than usual!

As Saturn hangs out in Libra, opposing your sun, you’ll be tested when it comes to relationships: Receive high marks by being flexible, compromising, and going the extra mile to see through the perspectives of your partners – both romantic and professional.

With the Sun, moon, Mars, and Neptune partying in your 11th House, February highlights your hopes, expectations and friends. This is an excellent time to get your message out there, and let friends and groups provide the support needed (inspiration and practical assistance) to make your dreams a reality. The full moon on February 18 is in your House of Pleasure. Now and into the next two weeks, make fun higher priority. Your tarot card is 10 of Disks, suggesting you do something creative with your internal/external wealth.

TAURUS

The planet of luck, Jupiter, will be transiting your 12th House of Reincarnation until June, giving you spiritual protection. Activities that take place secretly or "behind-the-scenes" are most beneficial to you now. Thus, this is a great time to heal, meditate, and seek the answers from within on how you might fulfill your spiritual purpose.

With Saturn in your Sixth House of Health and Work, you’ll be tasked with making best use of your time, and cutting out the fluff in your life. Taking better care of your body will be important, as will ensuring that you’re being as efficient as possible at work and with your daily regimen.

The last two weeks may have been very professionally focused, but now it’s time to shift into June Cleaver mode, becoming more domestic. Strike a balance between home and your other commitments, otherwise you may be overtaxed. Your tarot card is The Aeon, which means that you are ready to take a major step in regard to the future you’re creating for yourself. You are in the process of being reborn into a more evolved being.

GEMINI

While the Great Benefactor, Jupiter, resides in your 11th house until June, you’ll benefit greatly from friends, community, and networking -- the most fertile areas of your chart at this time. Your dreams, hopes, expectations and ideas will be refreshed, and you'll be more inspired to make the most ideal scenario an actual reality. Dream your dreams now, and look for how other like-minded people will help you make them come true.

While Saturn takes up shop in your Fifth House of Pleasure, your purpose will be made stronger. But first, you must put a flashlight on fifth house areas: How do you have fun? How do you manage your pride? Your ego? How connected are you to the creative pulse of the planet? How do you express your creativity and your lust for life? Focus on inspecting these areas, and Saturn will reward you for your efforts.

Your thirst for adventure has hopefully been quenched by now, because the Full Moon Feb. 18 and the two weeks following will have you catching up on the stuff that needs to get done. Get these out of the way so you can go out and have more fun. A short trip may be upcoming. Your tarot card is Knight of Disks, so it looks like you’re going to be very focused on work or health – perhaps find ways to make these areas adventuresome: Book an out-of-state conference, retreat, etc.

CANCER

As Jupiter, the planet of fortune, hangs out in your Tenth House of Career until June, it’s time to stand in the spotlight professionally and shine like the top of the Chrysler Building! No doubt about it, you're about to receive the recognition you deserve. Influential people are likely to be on your side and awards, promotions, and professional advancement are likely to be yours.

As Saturn tidies up your Fourth House of Home and Family, you should focus on understanding your roots and exploring your internal identity. Since this transit marks a period of inner “spring cleaning,” it’s not a bad idea to literally declutter your home, thereby helping you to release yourself from old, worn-out attachments that no longer serve you. Express your feelings along the way.

Boundaries between you and everything else (husband, friends, the divine) have been highlighted in early-February – a very intense time! Now, with the Full Moon on the 18th and the two weeks following, it’s time to get comfortable again, readjusting yourself to the lines drawn. Your tarot card is The Wheel of Fortune, so the tide is about to turn in your favor. Expect something favorable (and out of the blue) to come your way in the next two weeks.

LEO

As Jupiter visits your Ninth House until June, you’ll be inclined to rise above the mundane and view the world with your higher mind. A search for spiritual truth and a better understanding of the universe will make foreign travel, education (teaching and learning) take higher priority now.

In Libra, Saturn will be testing you, as it’s visiting your Third House of Communication. The goal is to communicate more effectively. You may feel “put upon” when it comes to executing ideas that amount to something. This burden may be lightened if you cut-out needless communications, like idle chit-chat and foolish banter: you’ll then have more mental energy to do something more significant with your mind.

The earlier part of February challenged you to understand partners’ viewpoints; the Full Moon on Feb. 18 in your sign will highlight your own self-assertion for the next two weeks. It’s all about balance, Leo. Harness any outbursts, as you may be prone to acting out. Assert yourself like a royal, maintaining the dignity of yourself and others. Your tarot card is Seven of Disks, meaning you need to relax and expect things to work out. You sometimes forget how magical you are, Leo, and you don’t want to put energy behind your worries, or they’ll manifest. You are the most fun person of the zodiac – your sign rules pleasure – so please start living up to your reputation and show us joy.

VIRGO

With Jupiter, planet of gifts, cruising through your Eighth House of Rebirth, you’re becoming more spiritually content. Worries about your vulnerability in matters pertaining to joint finances, shared resources, loans, taxes, sexuality and intimacy will dissipate, allowing you to heal and transform your inner psychological core. What other people offer you now could be of great benefit.

With stern Saturn in Libra in your House of Values, it’s time to take control of your income. Before you start to work harder, perceive the connection between your feelings of self-worth and your output in the world, as this will reflect what you get back. If anything is lowering your sense of value, now’s the time to draw your lines: How you value yourself will show up in your paychecks, so make sure you’re taking good care.

The Full Moon on Feb. 18 will be in your Twelfth House of Karma, making extra seclusion and quietude the best use of  the next two weeks. A project at work could reach completion, which should be followed by extra attention paid to health and your subconscious landscape via extra sleep and meditation. Your tarot card is Prince of Swords, meaning that you are pretty much unattached to all the awesome ideas you have at this time. That’s okay; sometimes there’s no need to make decisions, and just give way to whatever gives you the most peace of mind.

LIBRA

With Jupiter, the planet of great fortune, in your house of partnerships until June, relationships will be blessed with an expansive, warm energy. While you may be “let off the hook” from difficult relationships, successful new ones are likely to enter your life.

With Saturn in your solar House of Self, you’re given an opportunity to transform your confidence. You’re seeing yourself more clearly now than ever before. Saturn is giving you an opportunity to develop REAL self-confidence – not just a facade for the world and yourself to see. Saturn is cracking your persona so the world will get the real you – a much better version than any pretence you could engender.

While the beginning of February highlighted things that bring you pleasure, the Full Moon transiting your House of Friendship will make you realize the role you play in others’ lives. The two weeks following the 18th may be packed with social events, so get your dry cleaning done! Your tarot card is The Emperor, suggesting that you’re also going to have to be responsible and industrious. Add an extra hour of sleep to your schedule, or increase your caloric intake a bit to coincide with your extra energy expenditure.

SCORPIO

With Jupiter wandering through your 6th House of Work, you will find much happiness in your job, and you may branch out into new territory. Making gains in self-improvement and health are likely, and you’ll be much more adept at handling the details of your everyday life. You may find the perfect daily regimen that makes you feel strong and expansive on a day-to-day basis.

Meanwhile, strict Saturn pays a visit to your 12th House of Karma, sweeping up the dirt in your closet, so you can take a look at what’s there. You’re tough, Scorpio, and up for the challenge as well as the rewards. Re-assessing anything that you've left undone will help you conquer your subconscious fears, which have been keeping you from living the best life possible. Meditation, self-love, proper rest and journaling will soften Saturn’s sometimes-Nurse-Ratched-like approach.

With the Full Moon in your 10th House of Work on Feb. 18, you'll be in the spotlight professionally. Get your rest for the next few weeks and give yourself extra self-care to make yourself stronger; you want to show yourself as competent as possible when you are asked to rise to the occasion. Your tarot card is The Tower, suggesting that this is a time of rebuilding and healing. In that vein, make sure to slow down. You tend to go all out and that’s great – but sometimes you just don’t know when to stop and that’s when you go too far: It bears repeating: Please slow down to avoid burnout and over-the-top behavior.

SAGITTARIUS

With Jupiter transiting your Fifth House of Pleasure, fun, romance and good times are in the works! You are exceptionally creative and compelling in your creative expression, so this is a great time to take up new hobbies and to have as much fun as possible – allow yourself to play!

While Saturn transits your 11th House of Friends and Ideals, you’re being challenged to articulate your hopes and wishes, as well as scrutinize your personal associations. Dreams change – have yours? Are some friends really not friends at all? These are tough questions, but the answers will give your real, true-blue dreams “feet,” and will set the stage for superior friendship and community.

With the Full Moon Feb. 18 highlighting your Higher Mind, it's the perfect time to release outmoded philosophies and beliefs that hold you back. Further, you’re over the mundane details of the past two weeks – it’s time for an adventure to rekindle your spirit. Your tarot card is Six of Wands! This is a very winning time for you, so make sure you enjoy your hard-won efforts and the spoils of victory!

CAPRICORN

As Jupiter roams through your Fourth House of Home and Family until June, a strong sense of inner security can be experienced now. This will expand your ability to love and nurture others, and may also expand your home: You may move into a bigger, new place as real estate transactions are favored. You may also gain more members to your family of choice and/or origin.

With Saturn in Libra, transiting your Tenth House of Career, exactly what you’ve been building will be inspected. You’ll be in the spotlight, and have to show the world what – so far – you’ve achieved. Saturn here will bring to light how you’ve limited your achievements, and will allow you to appraise exactly where you want to go. This will make achieving even more fun for you, Capricorn, because you’ll know that what you’re trying to make happen you REALLY want to make happen.

The Full Moon on Feb. 18 in your 8th House of Rebirth may have you shelling out money – either to set your accounts straight or to help someone who depends on you. What makes you feel comfortable needs to be balanced with what you’re responsible for – and that may indeed be other people’s needs. Your tarot card is Nine of Swords, suggesting that you stop obsessing and allow your mind some peace. Some things you’re not in control of Capricorn, and therefore have to trust in the universe.

AQUARIUS

As Jupiter transits through your Third house of Communication, you will find much joy in teaching, learning, and being social. As a more confident and enthusiastic writer and speaker now, make sure you express your ideas. Neighbors, relatives and everyday contacts could be especially beneficial now, and good news via phone calls, email messages, and short distance travels are likely.

Meanwhile, in your Ninth House of Philosophy, Saturn wants to know what you stand for and what you believe. You’ll have to examine the future you’re working toward and why you’re working toward it. Readjust the plan if necessary. You’ll find out exactly what fuels your fire, making inspiration more instinctual than laborious. You’ll build stronger faith in yourself and the universe, and the world will put stronger faith in you.

All of February has been about you, with the New Moon in your sign about two weeks ago. Now, with February 18’s Full Moon transiting your House of Partnerships, you’ll be asked to take significant others into consideration - it's time to negotiate and compromise. Your tarot card is The Lovers, suggesting that you’ll have a choice to make. This is about an exercise in communication and dialogue, in order to create a win-win situation.

PISCES

While Jupiter, the planet of luck and fortune, continues to roam through your Second House of Values until June, expect expansion to your self-worth, personal finances and even possessions. The finances gained through this house relate to money you earn, so work may increase as well. Let the life you lead and the decision you make reflect your values, and you will increase your self-worth and attract more fortune.

As Saturn in Libra transits your Eighth House of Rebirth, you’re in for lessons in self-mastery. Your control issues, addictions and compulsive-obsessive behavior patterns will be important to conquer, since the point of Saturn here is to give you more power. Likewise, Saturn’s stance in this area of your chart will force you to answer what you really desire when all the fear-based compulsions are out of the way. With a heightened awareness of what you desire, you are reborn into a much more powerful being.

With the Full Moon Feb. 18 transiting your Sixth House of Health and Work, you may find such a matter reaching a conclusion: You may decide to embark on a complete self-improvement program; you could also flip out on a boss or co-worker who’s been completely unfair. Let’s calm down a little bit, since the slower you start something, the faster you finish it. It’s great that you’re so gung-ho at this time – but prior planning prevents problems. Your tarot card is Two of Swords, meaning that sometimes it’s important to make decisions without the interference of your emotions. Peace is sometimes the result of the cool, detached mind. That being said, make sure you release your emotions in a safe way – through journaling or exercise, for example.

Valentine’s Day in the sign of Aquarius?

It seems odd to most astrologers that Valentine’s Day falls when the sun is in Aquarius. Not romance-oriented Leo. Or marriage-minded Libra. Or dreamy Pisces. No, the most romantic of holidays arrives when the sun is in Aquarius, whose cool, in-the-clouds exterior keeps them free from the rapture that feeds today’s Valentine’s Day concept.

That’s not to say that Aquarians can’t appreciate the crackling log in the fire, an unexpected batch of “borrowed” flowers, or the glowing hue he just discovered in your eyes. The heart-shaped boxes of chocolates, the winged figure of Cupid, and the legions of red greeting cards in drug store aisles, however, is enough to make the typical Aquarian sick: She can perceive the commercialism of the holiday and see how it’s been exploited to no end. Nevertheless, smart Aquarius may use Valentine’s Day as the perfect opportunity to tell the people in his life how much he loves them.

Aquarius represents the expression of cosmic inspiration that nourishes the earth. Thus, Aquarius relates to circulation. When we were kids, we’d hand out valentines to our classmates, returning home with a small brown paper bag filled with our own. We could learn a lesson about this “circulation” of love energy – it’s about celebrating love. This is key to experiencing Valentine’s Day – AND LIFE – in divine splendor:

TEACH LOVE, FOR THAT IS ALL THAT YOU ARE.

In theory, we have two emotions: LOVE and FEAR. The first, LOVE, we’ve been born with; the other, FEAR, we’ve been given – either by the fearful influences we were born into or the experiences that have hurt us and made us shut down our hearts, giving more power over to the fearful mind. Love is letting go of fear. It’s about releasing – through expression, forgiveness, and self-care – all the hurt we’ve suffered so that we may return to our purest essence and love unconditionally – fearlessly – again.

In this vein, to attract love, all we have to do is love. Whatever you love, do it. You love to bowl, bowl every weekend; you love to dance, dance on the way to the train; you love The Beatles, listen to The Beatles. So long as what you love loves you back – as opposed to loving something that is bad for you (e.g., heroin etc.) – you’re creating a force-field of love around you, and by virtue of like attracting like, you create and attract more love.

Every relationship we have is reminiscent of the one we have with ourselves, so make sure you’re your own MOTHER – nurturing yourself when you need nurturing – and your own FATHER – disciplining yourself and reigning in your impulses that are not conducive to your highest good.

Further, leave room for the extraordinary in your life: All miracles are based on LOVE, so dissolve the boundaries between you and the divine for a more inspired day – one you can say was the best because you loved yourself more than ever before. On Valentine’s Day and ALL DAYS, high up in the clouds like Aquarius, may love lift you up where you belong.

XOXO

Happy Spring!

Spring Edition: In-the-Cards Newsletter

Dear all!

I wish I had more time to keep more in touch, since I know many of you really enjoy the newsletter. 2010 has been crazy-busy + great – I just wish I had the luxury of writing you more often about astrological tidbits and musings ;-) Well, better later than never  so here we go!

REVIEW, REST + RELAX

It’s Mercury Retrograde

From April 18, 2010 to May 11, 2010, Mercury will go Retrograde. This astrological aspect occurs 3-4 times a year, and it’s basically all about slowing down. Here’s the link to the perfect Mercury Retrograde song below  if you check it out, just hit "back" to return to the newsletter.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5jISrnID-CI

It's Jack Johnson, the King of Chill; so anything by him might be the perfect soundtrack to your life over the next couple of weeks.

When Mercury Retrogrades, it’s like you’re driving fast in a Porsche and from your window, you see a Honda Civic creeping along beside you. From your perspective, the Honda Civic looks like it’s moving backwards because it’s going so slow compared to your Porshe. Similarly, because of Mercury’s decreased speed, it appears from our angle on earth as if it’s moving in reverse or retrograde motion. And since “perception is everything,” our perception is somewhat backwards. Mercury rules thinking, processing and disseminating information and all means of communication; it also covers commerce, education and transportation. By extension, Mercury rules people who work in these areas, especially those who work with their minds: writers, commentators, critics, travelers, teachers, marketers etc. So very few of us remain unaffected.

Mercury Retrograde gives rise to misunderstandings; it’s best to be patient and clear, and erring on the side of prudence when communicating (e.g., don’t hit “send” on that nasty email, don’t jump to conclusions, or snap at people – you may regret it!) In addition to flawed, disrupted or delayed communications, we can also expect glitches and breakdowns with phones, computers, and ground transportation. Problems usually arise because some crucial information is wrong or an important component is missing.

It’s not ideal to make important decisions while Mercury is retrograde; such decisions may be obfuscated by misinformation, bad communication and careless thinking – and such decisions may not “stick.” Mercury is all about mental clarity and the power of the mind, so when Mercury is retrograde these intellectual characteristics are dulled and we’re basically more dim-witted. Make sure you pay attention to the small print on anything you sign. Don’t make any major purchases – particularly electronic devices. It’s not even a good idea to buy new clothes, wear new outfits or embark on new hairstyles under the Retrograde; since Mercury rules vision, something might look good under the Retrograde that turns out to have been a horrible idea – best to go with those looks you’ve tried before that you know will work. I think because Communication slows down, we tend to get a lot more ideas under the retrograde; this is fine, but write those ideas down – don’t execute them until Mercury goes direct. Most importantly, since this Retrograde will run through the sign of Taurus which rules money, don’t make any major investments over the next four weeks. Financial markets may act unpredictably as choppy and volatile conditions prevail.

What IS advised to do under the Retrograde?

Anything that starts with “re” is ideal, especially those words with the prefix re- which indicates a return to the previous condition, or repetition of a previous action: renovate, redecorate, revise, reunite, rejuvenate, research, renovate, research, reassess, but also relax, read and rest. It’s a perfect universe, and Mercury retrogrades to get things back into balance, though we may not be grateful for this. It’s like traffic: We all sort of need traffic, which forces us to slow down, though we resent it something terribly when we have some place to go! Just allow yourself to lie as low as possible during this phase. If anything, it’s a very legitimate excuse to take stock of our lives and not feel the need to rush forward – if we do, we’re bound to be held up anyway.

SPRING TAROTSCOPES

How your sign may make the most of the Retrograde

ARIES
As we leave your birthday time, Aries, you may actually enjoy the slower pace that Mercury retrograde brings. The sun’s entry to Taurus, even without the Retrograde being in effect, is about sustaining all that you got going through the time of Aries. Congruously, the sun in Taurus transit will light up your Second House of Money and Values, making it the perfect time to reflect on such issues. Hint: The more your life mirrors your personal values, the more valuable you’ll become and the more money you’ll make. So re-examine your values, and then set new, value-based personal goals for yourself when the sun enters Gemini, May 21-June 20. The focus will be on communication during that time, and it’ll be important to know what you want and to communicate it clearly as to bridge any gaps between you and your ideals. Spring tarot card for you: Knight of Cups – seek out your ideals with your heart on your sleeve to attract what you require with swiftness.

TAURUS
As the Sun leaves your 12th house of Karma, you’re certain to feel a reprieve. You may have felt world-weary throughout the past month, and hopefully you’ve removed the weeds from your “soul garden,” ridding of all that junk that keeps you from truly being you. Now, as the sun enters your sign and Mercury retrogrades, it’s time to reflect and review on who you are. Use this time to add a degree of flexibility when it comes to your goals – they may have changed without you realizing. When the sun transits through Gemini (May 21-June 20), you’ll be the calm in the storm for everyone you know, and money is certain to be excellent for you during that time. Make sure you do whatever you can to increase your inherent self-worth/value as an individual (i.e., Take very good care of yourself – your bank balance will thank you for it.) Spring tarot card for you: Six of Wands – this is a time of victory; take your rightful place as winner and be humble as you enjoy the recognition you deserve.

GEMINI

As the Sun shone in Aries, you were so popular you almost ran the risk of selling out – in more ways than one! So long as you remained true to yourself, Gemini, you probably at this time won’t feel as if you’ve been drained by all the parties. Hopefully, too, you’ve had time to dream up those ideas for your life that will make you as happy as a lark. As we enter the sign of Taurus April 20, like any air sign, you too may feel heavy. Add to this Mercury retrograde when you’re Mercury-ruled, plus a Twelfth House of Karma transit, and you may want to lie as low as possible until the Sun enters your sign and Mercury moves full speed ahead May 20. The best thing you can do from April 20 through May 20 is weed out all that doesn’t ring true to the real you. By May 20, you’ll spring back into the world like you never have before! Being you is the best way to gain all the glory for your birthday month and the remainder of 2010. Spring tarot card for you: 5 of Wands – allow competition to fuel your game. Sometimes up against resistance, we’re pushed to a level of success we would have otherwise not known. Likewise, an adjustment to the plan (i.e., monkey-wrench) may be exactly what makes you content.

CANCER
As the sun made its way through your Tenth House of Position and Honors this past month, your career was in the spotlight. You were most likely noticed for making some valuable contributions to your community. As the sun enters Taurus April 20 and Mercury retrogrades through your Eleventh House of Friends and Wishes, it’s a great time to reconnect with people from your past as well as re-evaluate those dreams that you believe will make you most happy and complete. Dreams change, Cancer, and when the sun enters Gemini May 20 and we’re out of the Retrograde, you’ll move full-speed ahead by ridding of anything that doesn’t feel completely right to you. Make it a point to decide what is good for you, what’s not, and stick with whatever makes you well or happy; the universe needs you in tiptop shape for your birthday and your brand new year ahead. Spring tarot card for you: Ace of Swords – crystallize your thoughts and be exact in the pursuit of justice and truth. Choose clarity in all your communications as to keep the peace. Remove the pebble from your shoe as opposed to learning how to limp comfortably.

LEO
The Sun’s prior stint in Aries (Mar. 20-April 20) boded very well for fire signs like yourself, Leo. Having activated your Ninth House of Philosophy, you probably made brilliant strides in developing your own personal bill of rights (e.g., What you believe in, what makes life worth living, and most importantly, what you stand for.) With your personal belief system in place, you’ll make the strongest impact on the world – but how? That’s where Mercury Retrograde and the sun’s entry into Taurus April 20 will help you: Look back upon your career, and review what you were doing that made you feel the most appreciated; think about how you may incorporate new modes of creative expression to help you feel this way, but even better, again in the future. And when the sun enters Gemini May 20, lighting up your House of Hopes, Wishes, Expectations and Friends, it’s all about living the dream! Your calendar will be filling up rapidly throughout the end of May until the 20th of June. Make sure you get your 40 winks a night, and watch your habits to ensure you’re feeling as sunny and healthy as possible. Spring tarot card for you: Five of Swords. It’s important to think about yourself, but while doing so, allow for win-win situations all around. You’re powerful enough to shine upon everyone in the world.

VIRGO
As the sun made its spring debut in Aries (March 20-April 19), lighting up your House of Rebirth, it was an intense time for you. You’re now a new person with new things in your life, and released from the past. When the sun enters Taurus April 20 and Mercury is Retrograde, you’ll need to review your personal philosophy and how your world-view defines your world. What is this world about, Virgo? Or what should it be more about, particularly for you? When we enter Gemini, your career will take center stage, and you’ll need your personal philosophy in place – that way, you’ll have the self-respect that will garner the respect of others as you proceed higher up the mountain of success. Spring tarot card for you: Ten of Swords. The worst is over, so now it’s a matter of extracting the best from past experiences that are no longer relevant. Don’t think so much – instead allow yourself to feel more and create.

LIBRA
The Sun’s transit through your opposite sign, Aries, had put the focus on your partnerships, both personal and professional. You’re certain to feel better once the Sun enters Venus-ruled Taurus. As Mercury retrogrades, it will be time to review the boundaries you set or dissolve, as well as whatever resources you share with others. Are there issues that need to be worked out in these areas that you’ve overlooked? When Mercury goes direct and the sun enters Gemini, the focus will be on your philosophy and world-view. A great time to travel abroad, May 20-June 21 could mark a major change in how you see the world and your part in it. If you don’t travel, perhaps engage in new realms of art, theater and music to broaden your horizons. Spring tarot card for you: Five of Pentacles – do whatever you can to enjoy successful relationships and commitments. Watch out for people and activities that make you feel spent without retribution.

SCORPIO
As the natural astrological cycle began in Aries March 20-April 20, the focus for you, Scorpio, was on work and your day-to-day. Alighting matters pertaining to Health, Work and Daily Protocol, the sun shining there may have alerted you to what is and is not working in your regimen. As the Sun enters Taurus April 20 and Mercury retrogrades, the issues you’ll want to sort out and learn from have to do with partnerships – both personal and professional. Expect a lover or professional contact from the past to come back, and make sure to be honest about your feelings. Holding in resentment will only stall your spiritual/emotional development. If said person cannot handle your truth, he cannot handle you, and you deserve someone who can. When Mercury goes direct and the sun enters young-at-heart Gemini, the focus will be on what you do and do not want in your life. This will be a very important time, May 20-June 21, as where you draw your lines will determine the quality and flavor of the summer months to follow. Spring tarot card for you: Judgement [sic] – This is a time in which you’ll take a definite step away from the past and into a new future; it will be like a new world in which your soul, mind, spirit and body have reached a new level of experience – enjoy this new life filled with a magic you will have fun learning to use.

SAGITTARIUS
It’s Springtime, and if you don’t have spring fever, Sadge, nobody does! The Aries sunshine lights up your House of Pleasure until April 20, giving rise to all kinds of new loves. As Mercury retrogrades and the sun progresses through your Sixth House of Work April 20-May 20, it’s all about reviewing your day-to-day and how that fits in with your larger plan. Is your current job situation ideal? What have you learned, and what do wish to accomplish? Though it’s not the time to make any momentous decisions, it will be important to review these issues, and make a decision, perhaps, when the Sun enters Gemini. The Gemini sun, shining from May 20-June 21, will be opposite your sun sign. Not only does this put focus on your partnerships, but the polarization of your opposite sign will put you in good steed to make decisions from a less arbitrary standpoint. It’s not that the Gemini sun will sour your trademark optimism; it will just give you the ability to balance your confidence with a perspective from a higher vantage point. Spring tarot card for you: Three of Pentacles – This is a time of realizing that you have indeed accomplished a great deal; now, it’s just a matter of working as part of team to further progress. Great, great things are in the works, and teamwork and competence are your watchwords.

CAPRICORN
As the sun leaves Aries April 20, the focus having been on your Home and Family, you would have done well if you paid attention to those “little ones” who required extra attention. As Mercury retrogrades and the sun enters Taurus from April 20-May 20, expect an old fling from the past to return. Additionally, the theme of creativity and/or children will be big, and you may want to review, revise and rework previously started creative projects. As Mercury turns direct and the Sun enters Gemini May 20, it’s going to be all about work. How is that different from every month, Capricorn? Well, the daily protocol will be highlighted, and it’s all about the “system” you have in place to extract the utmost success out of every day. What needs to be fine-tuned in your regimen, Capricorn, and what might need to be included or nixed? Find out as this will be key to accomplishing as much as possible this summer and into the fall. Spring tarot card for you: Ace of Wands – You’ll have a new identity, imbued with all the power you need to accomplish your goals. Just make sure you give the fire of this Ace a vessel to move through, as to not start several things that don’t accomplish a whole lot. Move forward with an impassioned plan.

AQUARIUS
As the sun leaves Aries April 20, you’ll realize you experienced an information-packed spring, with high-speed communications coming at every which angle. This is great, because plenty of things have gotten up off the ground before Mercury’s retrograde, which slows things down. As the sun enters Taurus April 20 and Mercury reverts, you’ll be reviewing and reflecting upon Home and Family; this includes not just where you live, but where the heart is as well, and who you have in your helm. In addition to reconnecting with people from the past, this may also be a great time for redecorating your abode, and giving your setting a Spring refresh. As the sun transits through Gemini, May 20-June 21, your Fifth House of Pleasure will be activated: the focus will be on experiencing deeply everything that you love. Expect great creativity, fun and romance during this fruitful time. Spring tarot card for you: Ten of Cups – You are filled to capacity with emotion. Express all that you’re feeling. The emotion you express will water the seeds of your hopes, dreams, wishes, goals and ideals, which may change as you go with the flow.

PISCES
As the sun leaves Aries, which highlighted your Second House of Income, Mercury and the Taurus sun starting April 20 will electrify your Third House of Communications. Make sure to think things through carefully before making any sudden moves (e.g., Don’t send that scathing email, double-check itineraries, and leave extra time for ground transport.) This is the perfect time for you to revise any old projects, especially those that had been written or done with your hands. When Mercury goes direct and the sun enters Gemini May 20, the focus will be on your Fourth House of Home and Family. Expect a lot of invitations, and think not only about where you live but the cast of characters that might better complete your emotional/spiritual family. You may need to be a shoulder for those you love, so make sure you take extra care of yourself while people seem to be doing alright without you. Spring tarot card for you: High Priestess – Sometimes action is not required, but instead an energetic shift that focuses solely on self-trust. A magnet does not concern itself with what it attracts; it simply attracts what it is. Focus on keeping your vibration high and clear, and all that is truly you will start to materialize.

I hope you enjoyed this edition of the In-the-Cards Newsletter. I wish you a wonderful Springtime, filled with fruitful endeavors, healthy and joyous relationships, and weather that proves to be apt compensation for a long cold winter – in the words of The Beatles, “Here comes the sun.”

End of the Year Note from Joshua

Seasons Greetings!

As I wrap up [!] 2009, I thank you all for contributing considerably to my own personal joy and happiness throughout 2009. I feel so blessed having met all of you, and thank the universe that I get to tap into spirit in an effort to offer answers, insight, and spiritual understanding. As a seeker myself in this universe, I am constantly reminded that my vibration is high, as I attract such wonderful people.

My clients have been one of the best parts of my New York City experience over the past three and a half years. I wish you blessings of love, light, happiness, peace, prosperity in the new year; and in 2010, if you acquire only a fraction of the happiness you’ve given me, I believe you’ll be hard-pressed to find another year that could possibly compare.

Tarotscopes: Joshua’s signature mix of tarot and astrology—for all the signs for the month of Capricorn (Dec. 21 – Jan. 20); plus, how your sign may prosper through Jupiter, the planet of luck and fortune, in the New Year!
*Note: Mercury will be Retrograde between Dec. 26-Jan. 17, which means it’s a good time to do anything that starts with the prefix “re”—i.e. revise, renovate, recuperate, regenerate, revision, re-evaluate, re-access, re-establish etc. The Retrograde is not the best time to make momentous decisions or to start something new; but so long as the seed of the idea had been planted before the Retrograde, you should be in the clear. This is not the best time to make major purchases, particularly of electronic items, as they have a tendency to break down. It’s a time to be extra careful in communications as misunderstanding are commonplace. If you must sign any contracts, make sure you go over the fine print. This is a GREAT time for a reunion or to reunite with people from the past.

Aries    Taurus    Gemini    Cancer    Leo    Virgo    Libra    Scorpio    Sagittarius    Capricorn    Aquarius    Pisces

ARIES: As the sign of Capricorn transits your solar 10th House of How the World Sees You, you’re able to readjust the focus on your legacy, re-evaluating how you’d like to make your mark in the world.

With Princess of Cups as your tarot card this month, fill up your heart and mind with as much bliss as you can muster; then go about your business, and dance your dreams into reality. This is very much akin to acting “as if” all your dreams have already materialized.

Since Jupiter in Pisces makes you expand this year in areas of self-undoing, it’s the perfect time to leave behind all that is no longer you.

TAURUS: As the sign of Capricorn transits your solar 9th House of Philosophy, it’s time rewrite your personal “Bill of Rights”—what is it that you stand for, and how might you teach as you learn to make this world a better place?

With Princess of Wands as your tarot card this month, you must “grab the tiger by the tail,” conquering your fears and doing what you would do if you couldn’t lose. This princess embodies the concept of excess—so be excessive in your courage and optimism, as to make the most not just out of the month of Capricorn, but throughout the whole year.

As the planet of fortune enters Pisces, you’ll expand in 2010 in matters pertaining to hopes, dreams, friends, wishes and expectations. For such a grounded sign, this new year will be all about keeping your head in the clouds while moving step-by-step toward your goals.

GEMINI: As the sign of Capricorn transits your 8th House of Others’ Resources, it’s time you decide who and what you’ll combine forces with to make you most powerful in the New Year.

Ten of Swords signifies that an end of a problem is near. When you’ve done all you could to make things better and the results don’t change, suddenly it becomes clear the past is gone. This is a great omen, since you can now rebuild upon solid ground without your efforts going to waste.

As the planet of fortune lights up your 10th House of How the World Sees You, you’re certain to shine in the public spotlight. Expect accolades, awards, promotions and honors—as your status in 2010 is certain to receive a lucky cosmic boost.

CANCER: As the sign of Capricorn enters your solar 7th House of Partnerships, your relationships—personal and professional—are the main focus. Re-evaluate partnerships and ensure those you commit to, especially on a contractual basic, complement you in areas that are important. Be wary of signing contracts during Mercury’s Retrograde (Dec. 26-Jan. 17).

With Two of Swords guiding you this month, it’ll be important to make decisions without the interference of the emotions. Being so emotional, Cancer, it’s sometimes hard for you to stay focused on the big picture when other things throw you off emotionally. Stick with the plan, and find a way to express your feelings without altering the pre-established guidelines that will serve you best.

As the planet of fortune lights up your 9th House of Philosophy in 2010, your worldview is expanding. If there was any year to take your learning to the next level, or galvanize your outlook with a trip abroad, this would be it.

LEO: As Capricorn transits your 6th House of Health and Work, it’ll be important to re-evaluate your habits and daily regimen. It’s the perfect time to create a stronger structuring red thread that runs throughout your busy days; resolve to adjust diet, exercise and stress-relieving techniques that will ensure good health and a healthy bank balance throughout 2010.

With 10 of Disks being your tarot card this month, you’ll reach the end of an earth cycle which results in great wealth. Make sure you invest such strong resources into something that has heart and meaning. The word affluence comes from the French “affluere” which means to flow—flow and you will flourish even more.

As the planet of fortune enters Pisces and lights up your 8th House of Others’ Resources, it’s probable you’ll gain from a benefactor, bequeathment, loan, or other investment of other peoples’ capital. Think about whose forces you may join with in 2010 to help you become even stronger; not just fiscally, but who might you merge with spiritually, emotionally, mentally and physically to empower yourself more than ever before.

VIRGO: As the sign of Capricorn transits your 5th House of Pleasure, children may become the focal point you—if not literally children, we’re talking here about your creations, like artistic projects and ideas about to reach fruition. The month of Capricorn is a time when the cosmos blesses you with much fun, and presents the perfect time to fall in love—with a person, place or thing—all over again.

With 5 of Disks being your guide-post this month, make sure what you put your efforts into give back to you as well. Being such a service-oriented sign, you’re more inclined to give as opposed to receive. This is all well and good, but when what you give is not balanced, you may find yourself in an energy deficient. In essence, make sure you demand success—and success entails giving where you have and receiving where you have not.

As the planet of gifts in Pisces lights up your House of Partnerships, this year you may get married or sign a contract with a business partner. Likewise, those with whom you’re partnering are likely to expand very much this year; be supportive and help them out, and you will indeed benefit as well. It’s a great year to expand associations outside of your comfort zone.

LIBRA: As the sign of Capricorn transits your solar House of Home and Family, it’s time to reconnect with your family of origin and/or your family of choice. It’s also a good time to re-evaluate your concept of “home” and what exactly that means to you.

With Ace of Swords as your tarot card this month, you’re called to invoke mental clarity in all of your endeavors: Break down possibilities to their bare essentials, cutting through the clutter to crystalize exactly what it is you want; once you do that, everything will seem to fall into place. It is sometimes not knowing exactly what we want that makes contentment so elusive.

As the planet of Luck in Pisces enters your 6th House of Health and Work, you may find many blessings on these fronts. Health problems may miraculously clear up, and work that has heart and meaning seems to find you wherever you go.

SCORPIO: As the Sign of Capricorn transits your 3rd House of Communication, this may be the best time ever to start writing—whether it’s writing books, songs, memoirs or just journaling. You’ll also find your BlackBerry blinking A LOT during this transit, with many people offering you invitations, information and ideas. Since it’s the Retrograde from Dec. 26 through Jan. 17, try not to sign on the dotted line until after this transit; if you must, get a lawyer to go over the small print.

The Knight of Wands serves as your tarot card this month, prompting you to distance yourself from the familiar, and go for the bold moves that will knock everybody’s socks off! This card embodies the essence of fire—the hero of heroes—and makes clear that the measure of risk is equivalent to the amount of the gain; if nothing’s at stake, indeed nothing is at stake.

As the planet of luck lights up your 5th House of Pleasure in 2010, this may indeed be the best year for love. Anything you put your heart into—be it a person, creative project, yourself or idea—is certain to flourish. Love begets love, so pour your heart into all you love for a year of unprecedented abundance.

SAGITTARIUS: As the sign of Capricorn transits your 2nd House of Money, you’re likely to come up with new money-making ventures throughout the holidays into the New Year. Since Mercury will be retrograde from Dec. 26-Jan. 17, favor projects which have at least been discussed before or after the Retrograde transit; if that can’t be helped, make sure the details are completely clear, and that employers know where to send the check!

The Moon card asks you to get in touch with your creativity, intuition, and passivity; sometimes a most arcane glimpse of the universe can strike, making it seem as if you are seeing the world for the very first time. Be open to your subconscious, as therein lies the prophecy of what will be best for you to do.

As the planet of luck lights up your 4th House of Home and Family, expect such matters to expand; you may find your extended family growing, as your ideal spiritual family seems to materialize. Once you find yourself more connected to your family of origin and/or family of choice, you’ll find extra energy in your pursuits of adventure!

CAPRICORN: Happy Birthday, Capricorn! As the sun transits your 1st House of Identity, you’re certain to feel strong and powerful, even if you’re not stoked it’s your birthday! This month marks a time in your life in which you’re able to grow in new and exciting ways for the year ahead; initiate profound changes by making adjustments to the “look” you make on a first impression basis. This may sound superficial, but a change to your outward appearance may put you on the fast-track to creating a new you for the new year.

Fittingly, The Emperor is your tarot card this month, broaching the theme of authority in your life. The card asks, “Who’s the Boss,” and it’s not Tony Danza! If you really want power, it’s up to you to claim the vistas that are rightfully yours. This month, you will be required to assume authority; the trick will be knowing when to subjugate your authority as to learn more and inevitably serve better. The Emperor doesn’t just rule; he serves by ruling. So where you have mastered, take command; and where you have yet to master, learn by being an authority under a higher authority.

The planet of luck in the sign of Pisces lights up your 3rd House of Communication, making this an information-packed year! You’ll be required to reaffirm your intelligence by delineating information and expertly differentiating the relevant from the inconsequential. People will be looking at you to make those logic-based choices that will help information flow. This year will also be a great time to do something with your hands—start knitting, playing piano, or writing; just make sure you start such projects (even if it’s just by thinking about it) before or after the retrograde (Dec. 26-Jan. 17), as to bring the most to your new endeavors.

AQUARIUS:  As the sun transits your 12th House of Self-Undoing, such a social time of year may have you requiring more privacy than usual. This self-reflective time comes on the heels of your birthday next month, prompting you to pull the weeds from your “soul garden” before you embark on a new year. A great time for meditation, and to feed your subconscious mind with all the positive affirmations that will reap benefits for you the whole year through.

With Queen of Disks being your tarot card this month, your emotions are affecting your physicality and fiscal resources. Feel prudent, feel connected to the earth, and feel secure within yourself and the outer world will reward you with the fruits of family, prosperity, and security that will last far into the future. Be practical and trust yourself, if only to practice being better trusted by the people in your world.

As the planet of Luck highlights your 2nd House of Earned Income, work should be busy-busy. Pace yourself, Aquarius, because this whole year will be about establishing the necessary security for you to go onto the next stage of your journey, armed with the grit and extra fundage derived from hard-work.

PISCES: As the sun transits your 11th House of Friends, Hopes, Wishes and Expectations, you’re certain to be busy-busy with lots of socializing and daydreaming—what a great way to start the new year! Use this time to network and fill up your heart and mind with the best possibilities that you wish to usher in this new year.

With Ace of Pentacles being your tarot card this month, you will create a stronger foundation upon which much can planted to sprout new growth. This card heralds blessings for health, trust, prosperity, and deep-rooted happiness. Know there’s a link between health, home, and environment—and ensure all are getting the adequate attention they need for you to truly thrive.

Even better, you are the celestial favorite of 2010, as Jupiter—the planet of luck—will be in your sign. This is all about expansion for you. Watch your waistline and make sure you can see the forest from the trees, and you’re certain to be blessed with much luck and fortune the whole year through.

The Best Gift to Give in 2010

It’s the season of giving, a time in which we share tokens of our appreciation with those we love. But with Jupiter in Pisces in 2010, we’ll expand by dissolving boundaries between ourselves and our world; thus, the best gift we can give to the world and those we love is taking better care of ourselves…in essence, loving ourselves is the most effective way to better the world.

Thus the question begs to be asked: How might we better serve the world and those we love by taking better care of ourselves? Typically, we know our personal drawbacks, and what we could be doing to better care for ourselves. But in an effort to keep us feeling complete as we make adjustments, why not go to the source of all things?

Everything that comprises the world is made of the four elements: Fire, Water, Air, and Earth. Likewise, we are made of these elements, and to accomplish or manifest anything, the proper balancing of these elements are required. When your astrological chart is run, the report shows whether your elements are balanced, or if you are strong on some elements and weak on others.

Those whose natal chart shows their elements as balanced may have an easier time manifesting things into their lives; for those who are weak in one or more element, they must seek out that element in some way to achieve balance in their lives. Often, if someone lacks Fire/Water/Air/Earth, they may seek out others who have a lot of that element in their chart. This, however, does little good in establishing true independence. Though others will contribute to your wholeness, I suggest you also seek out the elements of Fire, Water, Air, and Earth in non-human form. Make the elements part of your everyday, and you’ll find that life becomes a lot easier!

The following is a list of what the four elements are all about, and how you may add more to your life, as to take better care of yourself and lead a more balanced life. (Also, check out Affirmations for the Elements, as another method of drawing that element into your life.)

Fire: Drive, Passion, Energy, Enthusiasm, Inspiration Ambition, Confidence, Courage, Faith

To invoke more Fire into your life:

~Light objects like candles and incense.

~Wear “fiery” colors, reminiscent of fire signs, like red, orange, yellow and gold, and even blue (the hottest part of the flame), alluding to Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius.

~Rev up your metabolism! The fire element manifests within ourselves as our metabolism—get yours moving by exercising and eating something nutritious every 2-3 hours.

~Weight-lifting is particularly good to invoke fire, as you’ll be giving a nod to Mars, which rules iron.

~ Garlic and Vitamin C will keep fire burning bright inside of you as it wards off illness; cinnamon will also make you more fiery!

Water: Emotion, Compassion, Empathy, Caring, Nurturance, Flow, Creativity, Mysticism, Psychic Abilities, Intuition

To invoke more Water into your life:

~Take baths, swim, and never miss a chance to be near the ocean.

~ Listen to audio that alludes to the sounds of the ocean.

~Drink plenty of water; eat food comprised primarily of water, like lettuce and fruit.

~Put up a mirror, as it replicates the water element.

~Eat fish!

~Get teary-eyed while listening to music or watching film or television

~Wear “watery” colors like sea green, or those colors of aquatic creatures like turquoise and orange; wear colors reminiscent of water signs Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces—Silver, Maroon/Black and purple, respectively.

Air: Clarity, Logic, Composure, Freedom, Truth, Intelligence, Detachment, Communication, Socialization, Serenity

To invoke more Air into your life:

~Circulate the air in your environment by opening windows or putting on a fan; likewise, going outside with the intention of breathing in the fresh air may also help this cause.

~Wear “airy” colors, particularly sky blue (which will open your throat chakra and contribute to your open communications) or colors reminiscent of the air signs of the zodiac, like Green that speaks to Libra or rare colors like turquoise, chartreuse, and mustard that dare-to-be-different-Aquarius and Gemini may favor.

~Also wear well material that “breathes” like silk, mesh and nylon or anything that simply makes you feel more free.

~Read and write; write down, look up, and analyze lyrics to a favorite song.

~Peppermint or Spearmint is great for clearing the mind.

~Bird watch.

~Saying positive affirmations will give you the most productive use of air—thought, communication to self and speech.

Earth: Stability, Security, Groundedness, Steadfastness, Realism, Money, Practicality, Trustworthiness

To invoke more Earth into your life:

~Hold stones, crystals or other earth materials during meditation.

~Tend to a plant in your home or office.

~Commune with nature more regularly; literally, hug a tree or kiss a rock: spend more time in nature, absorbing the element, feeling the stone beneath your feet, the soil in your hands, etc.

~Wear “earthy” colors like brown, green, beige complementary to earth signs; but do know that wearing all black is very grounding, too. (As a fashion model once told me, “Nobody f%&ks with you in all black!” LOL

~Enjoy luxurious materials that make you relish the feel on your skin, like cashmere, silk, velour, etc.

~Exercise and eating right falls here, too; the better our bodies feel, the more likely we’ll want to stay present, experiencing life inside of them.

~Eating unprocessed foods “of the earth” like nuts and fruit will keep the earth in its purist form alive inside of you.

So, in the season of giving, make sure you resolve this new year to take better care of yourself which will be the best way for you to serve the world and the people you love. By balancing the four elements within and around you, you are sure to flourish and be on the path of continuous healing, growth, happiness and contentment. God Speed!

Elemental/Astrological Affirmations for Health, Healing and Happiness

To further your efforts of self-care in the new year, use affirmations! And how brilliant that you can actually use affirmations conducive to invoking the different elements!

As you probably know, an affirmation is a statement that you make to yourself. Everyone uses them intentionally or unintentionally. On Facebook, I’ve been noticing a new abbreviation: FML, which means “F$%k My Life.” Not a good affirmation! We want to use positive, feel good affirmations that help to raise our vibration enough to attract great things into our lives.

Note: the secret to affirmations is feeling; in addition to thinking these “power thoughts,” embody the feeling of having already attained what you speak about—eventually, the universe will match your energy. To get affirmations to really work, declare them like your life depends upon them. Consider your affirmations as important as brushing your teeth. Say them nine times in a relaxed state daily. Make your goals realistic to now, and you will be able to upgrade as your goals become achievements! Remember, energy follows thought and what you focus on will grow. Do not worry too much on "how" the goal will be achieved, only be concerned to feel the outcome and "see" the end result in your mind’s eye.

Here are some affirmations that are relevant to the 12 astrological houses and the signs they rule. Feel free to not only say those of your sign/signs in your chart, but to use affirmations of an element that you may be lacking—i.e. say you lack water in your chart, to attract more water, say the affirmations for Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces.

Tarotscopes

For the Month of Sagittarius (November 21 – Dec. 22)

Aries    Taurus    Gemini    Cancer    Leo    Virgo    Libra    Scorpio    Sagittarius    Capricorn    Aquarius    Pisces

Aries:
While the Sagittarian sun transits your solar 9th House of the Higher Mind, you’re ready to re-write your own personal bill of rights—what do you want in this life, based on how you see yourself and the world philosophically? Philosophy is all about examining life; throughout the mutable time of Sagittarius, allow yourself to be more flexible as to learn more and expand your world-view. Then, WOWZERS, with the Knight of Wands, change is on the way! And we’re not talking about subtlety either! We’re talking about making a move that is at once fast, risky, daring, and adventurous which inevitably distances you from the familiar in a very exciting way! So, adapt your view of yourself within the world, and initiate brilliant profound changes.

Taurus:
Throughout this typically fun solar transit, your focus this month will be on other people's resources—loans, bequeathments, sexual unions, etc. The purpose of such a transit, highlighting your 8th House of Others’ Resources, is to transform by fusing your energy with that which is outside of yourself. With Two of Wands, you may encounter a battle of wills—but the resistance you face is only the universe’s way of making you tap into your personal power. Let the universe help manifest your dreams, goals and ambitions; it’s time to start believing in miracles—all of which are based on the magic of love.

Gemini:
Sparking up your solar 7th House of Partnerships, the sun’s sojourn through Sagittarius puts emphasis on your long-term comrades, personal and professional. Now is the best time to team up and communicate with associates who not only complement you, but help set into action all that you wish to accomplish. With Prince of Cups signifying you this month, you’re going through quite the transformation. It is time to let the old you metaphorically die, so that you may re-emerge stronger than ever before. Let go of those associations which bring you down—life is too short to walk with people down one-way streets.

Cancer:
Lighting up your solar 6th House of Work and Protocol, the month of Sagittarius is certain to be busy and strategic! You know exactly what you need to do—and are ready to do it—to ensure things turn out your way. With The Sun card, this transit shines a bright light on everything you do and gives you quite the glow. Teamwork, cooperation and a sunny disposition will help manifest the best situations imaginable in all that you desire. To make the most of this transit, feel like a sun god/goddess—profoundly aware of your strength with enough energy to enjoy the fruits of your labor! Be sure to have fun to make yourself more fruitful.

Leo:
Lighting up your solar 5th House of Pleasure, Leo, the sun’s transit through Sagittarius is certain to be fun, lively, creative and sexy! With the Queen of Pentacles being your card throughout the month, you are in a most stable position to enjoy this transit. What’s funny is that while you’re having fun, you’re also able to keep your spending in-check, and actually manifest a few bucks. To make the most of this transit, remember to have fun while keeping your feet firmly in the ground, and know that more success is around the corner; hug a tree and/or kiss a rock—enjoy nature—as to watch the funds grow.

Virgo:
Lighting up your 4th House of Home and Family, the Sagittarian sun is ideal for reuniting with your family and/or family of choice. The stage is set for you to reminisce about old times, bury hatchets, and reconnect. Likewise, if you don’t feel ‘connected’ to people in your life, this is the transit to search for those people who make you feel at home; they’re out there, Virgo. With Judgement [sic] as your tarot card this month, you’ll take a definite step in regards to the past, initiated by an inner spiritual awakening: What mattered to you before won’t matter as much now, and what matters now is indeed the only matter. Allow yourself to be reborn into a new life which exists within the sacred and peaceful home within your more spiritualized self.

Libra:
As the Sagittarian sun lights up your solar 3rd House of Communication, your mind is bursting (even more so!) with lots of great ideas. Be sure to be flexible enough to switch gears, because information is coming from every which angle, and there are many opportunities and offers on the horizon. Continue to think with the big picture and the best possible outcome in mind. With Four of Swords, make sure you leave time for meditation as to give your mind rest. The extra stimuli this month could result in burn-out if you don’t take time out. Recovery, rejuvenation, rest and relaxation should indeed move up on your priority list as to make the most of this information-packed transit.

Scorpio:
There’s nothing like a solar 2nd House of Money transit to light up a Scorpio’s life! So, if you like money (and lots and lots of money), work hard throughout Sagittarian time, because there’s much loot to be had. Think outside the box, and get going on projects which may require a certain amount of risk. Six of Wands is your card for this month and its key word is Victory—need I say more? This is about winning; so whatever you give ‘the works’ to is going to pan out better than expected. Start acting as if all your problems have been solved, because with all the new things on the agenda, you’ll have no time to second guess yourself. Go about your business, thinking big and organizing your life to make way for limitless fortune.

Sagittarius:
Happy Birthday, Sagittarius! With the sun transiting your solar 1st House of Identity, you’re sure to be happy while—perhaps unbeknownst to you!—reinventing yourself. We’re most powerful around our birthdays, Sag, so in addition to having fun, think about the world you live in and what you’d like that to be—or more importantly, who you’d like to be in a new world. With Eight of Pentacles, it seems like your typical “more the merrier” self may be reigned in with a healthy dose of prudence. Perhaps you’re saving up some money to make major changes? Perhaps you realize that the person you want to be (or be with) requires adjusting the lifestyle to which you’re accustomed? Well, if that’s not maturity, I don’t know what is! Still, if anyone can have fun while being sagacious in material/physical affairs, it is indeed you. Cheers to a Happy Birthday, and a year carefully plotted to make your dreams come true.

Capricorn:
Oh Capricorn, it’s so funny that you’re acting all private and mysterious when everyone is skipping from shindig to shindig without a care in the world! But when the sun lights up everyone’s 12th House of Karma, they do have a tendency to hide. Thus, with the sun in Sagittarius, it’s all about “undoing” for you; releasing yourself of old karma and allowing yourself to meld with all you’ve learned throughout the last 11th months of the year; take the good and leave the bad. With Two of Swords, you shouldn’t hide under the covers and avoid social affairs, though it may be tempting; by “two-of-swords-ing” the situation, you put your nameless apprehensions and anxieties aside and make the most of this cheerful season—they’ll be time to brood and keep your privacy when Mercury goes Retrograde (Dec. 26). Still, express your intense emotions by doing something cathartic and releasing all that you no longer need—transform your glitches into greatness, digging deep to find the true you.

Aquarius:
The sun in Sagittarius offers a light and lively time for everyone in the world, but particularly you! Lighting up your solar 11th House of Like-Minded People, you’re in the perfect position to not only enjoy parties but to find and/or really relish your clan. The Devil card presents a two-sided coin: Firstly, you must watch out for unhealthy attachments and addictions; secondly, you may want to channel obsessive energy into productive pursuits that allow you to manifest all you wish to accomplish in the new year. You’re expert at adjusting means to fit ends, so in essence, you know what you need to do and have to ‘just do it’—perhaps you need to buy a new pair of Nikes!

Pisces:
Lighting up your solar 10th House of How the World Sees You, the month of Sagittarius puts your career and legacy in focus. What might be next for you, Pisces? How do you want the world to see you and what else do you wish to contribute? All you've done thus far with sacrifice, integrity and compassion will bring you just reward, setting the stage for the next role you'll play. With the Death card, one of the best cards in the deck, it’s time to leave behind that which you’re beyond. You’ve worked hard and the planets’ alignment makes that apparent to all—so bring powerful changes to the current situation now, before Mercury turns Retrograde Dec. 26, if only via behind-the-scenes preparation throughout Sagittarius time (by Dec. 21, at least).

Where Broken Hearts Go (or "What the Hell Happened to Whitney Houston?")

Whitney HoustonI used to bring up Whitney Houston when helping people understand my gift of psychic insight. “Just like when Whitney Houston sings,” I'd say, “it’s divine grace she’s channelling--it's proof of God. But Whitney is not 'God', much like the 'psychic' part of me is not me.” (Divine grace flows through everybody differently—but it comes through a person, not from him or her.) Unfortunately, I can’t make such a parallel anymore; Whitney Houston has lost “the voice.”

It’s apparent. Clide Davis, Oprah, and even Simon Cowell can ignore the truth, pretending that everything is fine and nothing has changed, but I can’t. Neither can Leah Greenblatt of Entertainment Weekly, who reviewed Houston’s “comeback” album I Look to You, writing that Houston “now sounds husky and glottal, as if her vocal cords were sent through a washer-dryer cycle with a handful of small rocks”—the pun intended, I’m sure.  It’s disheartening to say the least when you compare 80s and 90s Whitney to what we have today. And because Houston has chosen to be in the public eye, her mistakes are not to be glossed over—they are to be learned from, which may be one of the biggest gifts our celebrities give to us from the spotlight. But truth be told—I have an ax to grind…

WhitneyI’ve been spoiled by Whitney Houston most of my life. I remember at seven-years-old a poster in my babysitter’s bedroom of crimped-hair Whitney, popping out alive from what seemed like a cloud. Pure, perfect Whitney, just wanting to ‘dance with somebody.’ And while in the background of my childhood, somewhere along the line, her wondrous voice organically interlinked with my later years of development. I suspect sooner or later, Whitney’s songs, expressing the universal challenges of human relationships, affected a lot of us: From saving all our love for someone who’s attached (Saving All My Love for You) to the sudden realization that the past is gone (All At Once); to the latent patriotism evoked from the most amazing rendition of “Star Spangled Banner” to the bittersweet understanding that love is letting go with “I Will Always Love You.” There are many more moments in time [!] that Whitney Houston gave to us with her voice, testament to the adage that you really don’t know what you have until it’s gone. Though I'll never love a voice like hers again, the ride with Whitney was indeed worth the fall ;-).

At least we still have the songs of the past she used to sing. But more so, we have the lessons extracted from her journey: Respect your gifts; don’t get so arrogant that you take them for granted, or you won’t have them any longer. But there’s still more to learn: According to her 1986 song, she “decided long ago, never to walk in anyone’s shadows”…that if she would fail or succeed, that at least she’d keep her dignity. If Whitney Freaking Houston cannot maintain the greatest love of all inside of her, it’s clearly going to be a life-long challenge for us all. In essence, if someone as powerful and talented as Houston can misplace her dignity, we all have to be on-guard.

As to further learn from Houston in keeping our gifts and spirit intact, it may help to look at when she started going down hill. After an exceptionally hyped up intro by Queen Latifah in 2003, Houston sang “Try it On My Own”  [ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lur_Rk8B1bM ], her voice was raspy, weak and hoarse; her attempted high notes were not within reach. As a viewer on You-Tube, Tothpictures, writes: “This was the point in time where her voice has officially deteriorated.” Another viewer, TheNomadMC, writes: “This makes me want to cry.. I love this song..YOU can see the pain in HER EYES>>> you can see it with each note she struggles on...IT IS SAD!” Yes, indeed. If only—and this is just speculating—but if only she did indeed ‘try it on her own’ sooner, without her husband Bobby Brown dimming her light, perhaps she could have preserved the gift she had given the world.

Whit and BobbyWhat really gets me about the aforementioned clip is that Bobby Brown looks as pleased as punch, whereas when Houston had excelled and received awards in the past, Brown was visibly annoyed, upset and clearly jealous. Is it possible that even though ‘her love was his love’ that Bobby still couldn’t get past the green-eyed monster, and that she subconsciously sabotaged her greatest gift as to win his love? I think so. I think she loved him perhaps more than her career, and that she chose darkness after he had broken her heart; in her pain, she destroyed herself and her voice.

And she still continues to, at least as far as I can tell: In September, she blamed talking on the Oprah show for her poor vocal performance on Good Morning America [ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3F5SU929vI ] ; in November, when she appeared on a British talent show, she was even worse [ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0WSd6eRUDQ8 ]: One viewer writes, “Completely out of breath, forgetting the words to her songs, and apparently unable to string words together to form a complete sentence [during the interview], Ms. Houston on the X-Factor seemed still on drugs.” Another viewer writes, “The question is; is that what drugs have done to her or is that what drugs are STILL doing to her?” And goodness only knows; but if she is still on drugs or whatever, we can no longer blame Bobby Brown and his oh-so-precious prerogative; they divorced over two years ago. With or without him, her pain lingers on, most likely unprocessed.

This is where we may derive another spiritual lesson. As evidenced by her songs that have touched the world, we will continue to go through the universal motifs she sang about. But what may be different is how we handle the situations. We may have our hearts broken in matters pertaining to career, relationships, friendships, ad infinitum; but where our broken hearts go is invariably up to us. Though the hurting of ourselves in other ways as to distract us from our pain is normal—the ‘drinking away of our sorrows’, clichéd ‘Ben & Jerry’s’ binges or worse—we must ‘raise the bottom’, heal and process our pain as to preserve our greatest gifts. In essence, when broken, our hearts must go to a healing place, so that in our comebacks we are even better than before. #

The Economic Practical Joke (or Spiritual Lesson from the Universe)

money treeThanksgiving arrives just in time to help us feel blessed after a year of being brainwashed that we’re impoverished. Even if the economy hadn’t been so bad, we'd most likely suffer since it’s been beaten into our heads that it is. At the least, the extreme focus on it over the past year has made a bad situation even worse. Not to beat a dead horse with a stick, but the Law of Attraction still holds true: What we focus our attention on, we attract. But indeed the economy is getting better—spiritually, I surmise, because enough of us collectively have decided to be happy with what we have.

Like anything in life—the job, the guy/girl, the keys you can’t find—it shows up when you’re no longer focused on it not being there. Granted, we can’t listen to “Law of Attraction” meditations all day long and expect our condition (economic or otherwise) to improve. To initiate change, we must act; but our actions should be prefaced with a fearless mind and open heart. We must be mindful of what we do have, appreciate that and put it to use.

This NYC psychic typically doesn’t thump a bible, but with 12 years of Catholic school behind me, I suppose certainBible things remain. I’ve extracted some meaningful stories from the bible; one of my favorites is “The Parable of Talents.” For the Hebrews, the word talent meant “a weight and denomination of money,” though my interpretation of the parable incorporates the more common meaning of the word: natural abilities or qualities, which we all have.

In the simple story, a master distributes some of his wealth amongst his three servants. To the first, he entrusts five talents, to the second two talents, and to the third one talent. The first two servants quickly set to work with their master’s money. The third servant does not invest his master’s money at all; he digs a hole in the ground and buries his. When the master returns, the first two eagerly meet him, delighted in their ability to have multiplied his money. Both are commended as “good and faithful servants” and are rewarded with increased responsibilities and invited to share in their master’s joy.

But the master’s dealings with the third servant—oh, that’s a very different matter. This servant came to his master with only the one talent he had been given; he did not increase his master’s money at all. (In fact, if this were to take place today, that money would likely be worth even less, due to inflation.) This servant offered a feeble excuse for his conduct: "Master," he said, "I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed. So I was afraid and went out and hid your talent in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you."

Well, the master was none too pleased! "You wicked, lazy servant!” he scolded. “So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed? Well then, you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would have received it back with interest." The master was right. Then it was time for the servant to be punished! So he took that one man’s talent and gave it to the servant who had ten. Alluding to the idea that ‘the rich get richer and the poor get poorer’, the master said, “For everyone who has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him.”

Money

Reading this, I believe energetically, it’s all about the mind. The servant who neglected to do anything perceived himself as having nothing, but that’s not the case since he had been given a talent. That servant’s belief in his lack resulted in even less: The master demanded the worthless servant be thrown outside, into the darkness, “where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth." But besides the practical loss on behalf of his servant's laziness, the master may have also been upset that his servant hadn’t had faith in him; notice the master praised the first two servants for being “faithful”—not shrewd or effective or profitable, but praise is given for their faith, not for their results. If the third servant had faith, he would have invested the little he had and not been sent outside to gnash his teeth—especially since he wouldn't be able to afford a dentist!

Further, “riches” are relative; millionaires are poor compared to some people. And some of the poorest people in the world are the most rich; the richest, the most poor. Though if we focus on what we have, our fruits will multiply; if the servant who had only been given one talent used it best, he could have come out the winner. Unlike he, who got stuck on what he didn’t have, we must be ever-mindful to focus on what we do. The spiritual lesson (in the parable and inherent in the economic "crisis") is about being happy with less; it’s about appreciating what we do have and investing that to the best of our abilities—doing just this, spiritually gives us more. Of course, it’s nice to make our internal riches visible externally—and that’s possible, too; but to do so, we must be stalwart in our faith. Not just for reward, but because faith makes life a hell of a lot more enjoyable and fun--faith, in and of itself, is great fortune.

 IN-THE-CARDS: halloween edition!

Happy Halloween!

On the most magical night of the year, the moon will be in the astrological sign of Aries—and since the only color associated with that zodiac sign is red, make sure to wear your blood! But do know that many esoteric theorists suggest that what you are on Halloween ushers in that energy for the “new year.” You may wish to use this idea by intent: If you’re a Vampire, for instance, be so in hopes of staying young; be an Angel with the intent of staying away from that which ‘devils you’ or be a rich person, and perhaps you’ll find yourself much more in the green this year, etc.

Most of us celebrate the New Year on January 1, but Halloween—also called Samhain (pronounced Sow-in)—falls on the eve of the first month of the ancient Celtic calendar. So in addition to glowing jack-o’-lanterns, dressing up, trick-or-treating, ghost stories and tarot readings, Halloween is truly a magical night when the veil that separates our world from the spirit world is at its thinnest—making it great for psychic readings!

This is the end of the old year, the beginning of the new. It’s a “spirit night” when the mundane laws of time and space are suspended, and the veil between worlds is lifted. Communicating with ancestors and departed loved ones is easier around this time, for spirit is said to journey during this season. Since Samhain is a night that exists outside of time, the days and nights around Halloween may be used to view life outside of the present—like in the future! So cash in on Joshua’s extra ‘psychicness’ [parties!!!] and/or meditate yourself to receive messages from spirit (from the most highest and clearest entities, of course*.)

*In fact, before opening up to spirit, you might want to affirm “I am only subjected to the highest and clearest influences.” Some suggest Jim Morrison of The Doors surrendered to any spirit that would take him; needless to say, his trip ‘to the otherside’ wasn’t the most beneficial... .

TAROTSCOPES

Find out what’s up for your sign throughout the rest of Libra (until Oct. 22) and throughout Scorpio (Oct. 23 - Nov. 22) with Joshua’s signature mix of astrology and tarot.

Aries
It’s all about partnerships for you, Aries, while the sun shines in Libra. The Moon card suggests you realize, though, that not all that glitters is gold. Sometimes it’s best to be passive and open to influence, especially when the sun is in your opposite sign. When the sun enters Scorpio, letting go of that which no longer serves your new and improved purpose is ideal. The Tower card shows a major self-improvement program, and a breakthrough that will promote healing and freedom.

Taurus
A new moon in your House of Work on Oct. 17 will bring you a degree of financial comfort and security. When we enter Scorpio, you’ll feel you have the emotional stability and security (Four of Cups, a.k.a. Luxury) to make the choices that will equate to real world wealth. Scorpio time is all about partnerships for you; so make sure you choose professional and personal partners who will be with you for the long haul, and ready to do things in a very big and impressive way (10 of Disks, a.k.a. Wealth).

 Gemini
Lots of fun is on the agenda for you throughout the remaining days of the Libran sun, which lights up your Fifth House of Pleasure; it’s a great time in which your ‘cup over runneth’ and they’ll be celebrations of all kinds to be had (Three of Cups, a.k.a. Abundance). When we enter Scorpio, the focus will be on work; The Chariot card suggests you’ll embark on a new journey which will require courage, grit and determination: You’re more than likely to win the battle, so just go through the motions of what your highest self would do; specifically, ask yourself how your highest self would conduct day-to-day operations.

Cancer
Home and family will be the focus while the sun’s in Libra; with Seven of Disks, a.k.a. Fear of Success/Failure, you have to watch out for negative thinking and speaking. When you want something, for instance, don’t preface your request with, “You probably won’t want to do this, but…” and similar negative introductions that stunt your initiative. When we enter Scorpio, it’ll all be about fun and pleasure….your creations, be them projects or children, are sure to thrive under your watchful eye. Still, with 5 of Wands, a.k.a. Strife, there will be challenge and competition; you’ll have the best chance of winning if you remain flexible and adjust the plan in accordance with others’ ideals while still working within your own.

Leo
Communications and information of all kinds as well as short distance trips are imminent throughout the rest of Libra. The Princess of Cups card suggests you’re more open to new love, relationships, and even an artistic mode of expression at this time. Write that Sonnet, Leo, and dance if you want to dance! As we enter the sign of Scorpio, they’ll be more of a focus on home and family, and the Princess of Wands suggests you grab the tiger by the tail to make the changes you want made! Curb going overboard, and realize that you can get all you want accomplished so long as you focus your will, but not let it rule you.

Virgo
Making money is prevalent for you while the sun resides in Libra; the Adjustment card speaks about this being a great time to balance finances. It’s also a time in which you’re best apt to make those changes and decisions in your life that are fair to prosper in all ways imaginable. When we enter Scorpio, the focus will be on Communications, and perhaps learning something new. There’s also people from the past that may pop up, as well as children and new relationships with the Six of Cups, a.k.a. Pleasure. In all of this, enjoy the balanced expression of energy, which will make you feel better than you have in years, as you combine your gifts of balance with simplicity and innocence: an open heart is all you need.

Libra
Happy Birthday, Libra; you have a chance to recreate yourself during your birthday month. The Princess of Swords card suggests that a new form of thinking will get you to where you want to go, and ‘cutting through the clutter’ will be what you do best. Be aware of all communications; read your emails and check your voicemails, because good business news is on the horizon. You’re also genius in your own communications, so get to the keyboard and start writing out your brilliant thoughts and ideas. Then, when the sun enters Scorpio, you’ll find out how much your new identity is worth, by testing out the new you on the work front. Keep your spirit light as you tackle the tasks at hand. Teamwork and competence (Three of Disks, a.k.a. Works) shows that something indeed has been done, and that you now have a foundation upon which more can be built. While working, keep taking care of your health; you can’t manifest a million dollars unless you feel like a million dollars!

Scorpio
You’re cleaning up your karma while the sun transits through Libra; though The Fool card suggests it’s more of a light and carefree endeavor than most would have doing so—leave it to Scorpio to enjoy uprooting the weeds in their ‘soulgarden’! Once the sun enters your sign, it’s time to transform again, and create a new identity. Knight of Cups suggests you’ll be on a quest for ideals—love, a sense of family and spirituality, while at the same time, the spirit of romance will rush through your life. The only problem is that this “wavy and watery” energy may go to extremes, so reel it in when you feel others can’t reach your  standards and expectations; your ideals are artful and beautiful, but alas, they are ideals. Follow your bliss, yes, but be aware of gravity as to keep yourself from ever getting too low.

Sagittarius
Lots of friends are around you while the sun is in Libra; it’s time to find those like-minded people, so you may inspire each other. The card Two of Wands a.k.a. Dominion suggests you are a leader amongst your clan, and have a chance to call the shots. Success in two areas is imminent. When the Sun enters Scorpio, it’s time to undo all that is not you. To prepare for your birthday, cut through the clutter which makes it easier to breathe. But in true Sagittarian fashion, you’re able to simultaneously free yourself of the unnecessary while manifesting miracles (The Magician) in every area of your life.

Capricorn

The spotlight is on you while the sun is in Libra, lighting up your personal House of Positions and Honors. Four of Disks, a.k.a. Power asks that you consider if you’re holding on to what you have at too much of a price. Sometimes, Capricorn, you need to let go a little in order to get a lot more. Money seems to be coming in steadily, though. When we enter the sign of Scorpio, the energy will lighten and be more about friends, wishes, hopes, dreams and expectations. During this time in which you’re encouraged to think about what you hope for next, don’t be surprised to learn that to get what you want, you sometimes have to let go of what you have (Three of Swords, a.k.a. Sorrow.) In essence, you can’t keep all you have today, if you want to gain much more tomorrow; every gain acquired comes with a loss. Think outside of the box and do something different if you want to succeed in a bigger, better way. Likewise, remove the shackles of tradition and instead of the ‘tried and true’, opt for a more original and innovative approach.

Aquarius
It’s all about expanding your mind while the sun is in Libra, which highlights your House of the Higher Mind; in addition to learning more, it’s also a great time to plan a trip abroad which will also expand your horizons. But get your rest: Four of Swords a.k.a. Truce suggests you need to have your mental base secure in order to be composed for the busy-busy you can expect when the sun enters Scorpio; the focus will be on your career and what you give to the world—the results couldn’t be more favorable: Six of Wands a.k.a. Victory.

Pisces
While the sun is in Libra, it’s all about making a clean break from the past, and cutting out that which no longer serves you. The Two of Disks a.k.a. Change requires that you keep score in relationships and match the energy you receive from outside of yourself. Yours is a sign prone to martyrdom; so don’t deplete yourself by giving energy out to where it’s not returned. When the sun enters Scorpio, it’s going to be time to decide how to expand your consciousness so you may better serve the planet; consider taking up esoteric studies or getting out of the country to a far-away land. But whatever you do, watch out for low self-worth (Five of Disks a.k.a. Worry) which comes from those situations that are not balanced and successful. For fisheries, the word ‘success’ is defined as “a catch per unit of effort,” so if you’re applying effort and not getting any catches, it’s time to bait another hook and test out new waters.

Well, that’s it from this NYC Psychic! I hope you all have a wonderful Halloween season, and usher in all your hopes, dreams, and wishes for the ‘New Year’.

midsummer moonlight

             IN-THE-CARDS:             MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM EDITION

Inspiration: Be a Fool Midsummer!

Information: Sun in Leo and Tarotscopes for all the Signs!

Economic Consolation: Specials on Readings, Parties + Classes

I know a bank where the wild thyme blows,

Where oxlips and the nodding violet grows;

Quite overcanopied with luscious woodbine,

With sweet musk-roses, and with eglantine.

                                                                                               act ii, scene 1

Welcome to the Midsummer Night’s Dream edition of my In-the-Cards newsletter! Not only had Shakespeare sprinkled his masterpieces with many astrological allusions, but I believe, too, he channeled a lot of his work; the sheer volume of his output, his universal understanding of the human condition and his ability to rapture lead me to this conclusion. And since the sun is in Leo, it’s the perfect time to be enraptured…get caught up in the moment and fall in love all over again, or for the first time—with a person, place, hobby or even idea. “The path of folly leads to enlightenment” is a concept grounded in metaphysical philosophy, and would most likely be supported by Shakespeare.

In his romantic comedy, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Shakespeare actually characterizes the Fool archetype in the tarot with characters Puck and Bottom: Puck is a traditional fool, entertaining the fairy king, Oberon, with his crazy antics; Bottom is more of a contemporary fool, as his ignorance gets in the way of his objectives. But beyond these characters, Shakespeare’s play shows us that “reason and love keep little company.” This can be love not only for a person, but love for life and its many joys; we can be “foolish” when in love with a job, idea, passion, hobby, or ideal: We may dance until our feet bleed, for instance, or stay up all night, unable to put the book we’re reading down. And although foolhardy, playing the fool starts us on a path to enlightenment: As we become aware of what makes us joyous and alive, we get closer to the core of our true human nature—more wholeness results, leading us to more enriched lives.Fool

The first card of the traditional Rider-Waite tarot deck shows a fellow in colorful motley clothes; his
pack tied to a staff, he and his small dog inch closer—seemingly oblivious—toward the cliff's edge. The number of this Major Arcana, “O”, is shaped like an egg, alludes to the possibilities inherent in infinite potential. Like all cards, there are potential “pitfalls”—in this one, the fool could fall off the cliff, risking his reputation, life and pride; but without fearless oblivion, it may be true that we never get the chance to truly live.

Thus, I hope this newsletter encourages you to play the fool in some aspect of your life—step out on a new path, led by something that has captured your heart. The Fool’s path, the antithesis of fear, is conducive to a life of abundance, love and light: What else more do we need? Well, grounding. The only caution I have about playing the fool, is that with whatever/whomever you fall for, you do so with your eyes open; adding a dash of farsightedness to your journey may keep you from getting hurt. Hurting ourselves is not fun, and the sun has entered Leo, so fun is on the agenda!

Sun in Leo: July 23 – Aug. 22
The sun’s proud strut into Leo makes us the personification of a Beach Boys song! (For an example, check out this YouTube clip in which the Red Hot Chili Peppers doctor up an oldie but goodie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HuaeHXq8Wm8 .) Are you feeling the fun? And are you feeling like the greatest thing since the Jolly Rancher? You better! When the sun is in Leo, everyone’s more inclined to use their personal energies to support their egos and be recognized. Not recognizing this Leo energy enough, we may become “wall-flowers,” merely supporting players in our lives. This Leo energy overly used may make us arrogant, attention-seeking, tantrum-throwing brats: It’s been said that it’s very easy to get a Leo mad—all you have to do is say no. So be outgoing but not narcissistic; express your personality while allowing others to do the same; give and receive notice and applause to make this a most harmonious transit. Gravitate toward Leo areas of interest (e.g. romantic endeavors, speculative ventures, creative projects, relationships with children and lovers, and gestures designed to gain notice and applause) and find yourself feeling Brighter than Sunshine. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=py3qDjr99O4 .

Tarotscopes for the Month of Leo (July 23-Aug 22) for all the signs
[*Check your sun sign as well as your rising (a.k.a. “ascendant”) if you know it]
Aries: March 21-April 20
As Leo transits your 5th House of Affection, you’re likely to experience an intuitive, silent awareness of true love and connectedness. As this energy matures, you may be swept off your feet; congruously, Leo is one the best matches for Aries (next to Sagittarius), so expect to be pursued in high style! You’re likely to have lots of fun through the middle of summer; if not with someone who can keep up with you, it’s a creative project or fun pursuit that strengthens your self-knowledge, and thus, your identity.
High Priestess                      King of Wands               Queen of Wands

Taurus: Apr. 20-May 20

Something reaches a climatic point, and you have no choice but to let go and let God. Relinquishing control will dissolve your frustration and free up your energy to focus on more productive pursuits. As the sign of Leo roars through your 4th House of Home and Family, there will be enough BBQs, parties and family projects to keep you busy. By the end of this transit, you will not only feel accomplished, but also content. Relish this sense of luxury poolside, in a canopy or on a sofa—you deserve it. See what happens when you let go? You get to enjoy the sensual pleasures in life as others finally ask, “Is there anything YOU need?”
10 of Swords                          3 of Disks                       4 of Cups

Gemini: May 20-June 23
As Leo runs through your 3rd House of Communication, your chattiness may actually lead to cash. Your communications, too, will reach an apex of fun. Where there’s fun for Gemini, there’s love—so don’t be surprised if the funds start pouring in along with a rush of romance. This is a time of expression that not only leads you closer to your heart’s desire, but more in touch with your soul’s purpose and spiritual goals. With all the fire energy in the month of Leo, the world will need your air to keep passions fervent and alive.
10 of Pentacles                      Knight of Cups               Judgement [sic]

Cancer: June 23-July 22
You are feeling a lot this astrological month, and doing something with that energy is a must. Transiting your 2nd House of Values, the Leo sun will have you strengthening your convictions. Filled up with contentment while you stand strong in your values, you will draw toward you much wealth. Consider balancing your days with opposing priorities; perhaps choose two jobs instead of one full-time one. The stronger you are in your values, the more money flows toward you. Likewise, your inner riches expressed will reflect a rise in your bank balance. Flow with the expression of what you stand for to make the most of this transit.
10 of Cups                               King of Pentacles         2 of Pentacles

Leo: July 23-Aug. 22
Happy Birthday, Leo! Just when we thought you couldn’t be more fun, outgoing and optimistic, the sun returns to where it was at your time of birth and—whoa!—you’re even more of a superstar! In addition to the fun, games, and overall sense of strength you’ll be enjoying, you’ll also have an opportunity to put into action all the ideas you’ve been keeping under your hat. This birthday not only brings you celebration, but a new course of study or work in which you’ll be employing attributes of prudence and practicality. On this new path, you’re likely to be mentally challenged, too. Keep on the lookout for information that comes from a Gemini, or from 3rd house areas (letters, emails, phone calls and faxes). Overall, this month offers you a chance to change your identity involving work and people. Change the first impression you make, along with the new endeavors you pursue.
7 of Swords                            8 of Pentacles               Page of Swords

Virgo: Aug. 23-Sept. 24
Even with all the good things you deserve, Virgo, a transit through your 12th House of Karma may make you want to hide under the covers. We all go through a 12th house transit, and it’s during this time we ‘pull the weeds’ from our ‘soul garden’, ridding of that which obstructs spiritual growth. Often called the House of Self-Undoing, the 12th house transit is about “undoing” aspects of your life that no longer serve you, and ultimately, the world at-large. Make sure you’re treating yourself well, and getting the alone-time you need to process everything. There’s great catches to be had all month long, so make sure you strike a balance between the emotional and intellectual—then onward and forward you’ll work to a most successful conclusion.
The Moon                               9 of Pentacles                       2 of Swords

Libra: Sept. 24-Oct. 22
“Friends,” Libra, as the song goes, “
you gotta have friends”—and plenty of them are around this month, so much so that your social calendar will be filling up quickly. As Leo transits your 11th House of Friends, Hopes and Wishes, not only will you be a socialite, but brimming with ideas of the best possible future, and how to make your dreams come true. You’ll have plenty of energy for this new beginning, and travel by air is not out of the question. Stay alert, too, for news and information relating to changes! Pace yourself, though, keeping some energy in reserve for the month’s end, when your ideas reach fruition.
Ace of Wands                        8 of Wands                     9 of Wands

Scorpio: Oct. 23-Nov. 23
As the sun transits your 10th House of Career and Honors, how the world sees you is spotlighted. Twinkle, twinkle, little star! Expect vindication in the form of a promotion or an award—you’ll get an overall sense that nobody does what you do quite as well. Relish this wonderful time and take pride in it—you’ll need your trademark steely confidence during your birthday time when you’re a major catalyst for change. As the saying goes, “Change yourself, and change the world,” and this may apply most true for Scorpios. In the next few months, if you act on what has heart and meaning, you will create miracles and clear a path for others to follow. With great power, Scorpio, comes great responsibility. Soar like the eagle you are.
The World                              The Magician                 The Hermit

Sagittarius: Nov. 23-Dec. 21
While the sun cartwheels through your 9th House of Philosophy, everyone will be blowing bubbles from the soapbox on which you stand—so allow yourself to shine! You’ll be your most inspired self with a power originating from your heart, eager to fashion an even more awesome identity. A great time for foreign travel, Sag, as well as furthering your education. This Leo transit is all about claiming the open vistas as yours, which will expand everyone’s horizons. Have lots of fun expressing your gifted and worldly intelligence, and strike while the iron is hot!
Ace of Cups                            Ace of Wands                2 of Wands

Capricorn: Dec. 21-Jan. 20
As Leo transits your 8th House of Sex, Death, and Taxes, you’ll need to establish or dissolve boundaries as your world starts to change. What resources do others have that may benefit you and what resources do you no longer want to share? Be super-intelligent, thinking not only about dollar signs, but those attributes that will make you internally rich: love, empathy, amusement. With such joys of life in your “treasure chest,” you’re apt to enjoy the climb up the mountain with a heart that’s light. They’ll be choices you’ll have to make, and you really should make an effort to move with the current and not stick with the status quo.
Wheel                                     Queen of Swords          The Lovers

Aquarius: Jan. 21-Feb. 20
The Leo sun, transiting your solar 7th House of Partnerships, shows that you, too, can be grounded—who knew? In fact, it’s when you stay grounded to your values that your cup over-runneth with blessings that will translate into genius ideas and real world wealth. This year, Aquarius, Jupiter is in your sign, making it high-time to really think big and make your ideas come to life. To best utilize this 7th House Transit, seek out others—personally and professionally—who may balance your life. Reaping the full benefits will require a Leo specialty: showmanship. Show your dedication, commitment, and the internal wealth you possess; use all this to enrich the world, painting it with your own inimitable and zany shade of blue—what else are you here for, anyway?
Queen of Pentacles                      3 of Cups                10 of Pentacles

Pisces: Feb. 20-March 21
As the sun transits your solar 6th House of Service and Health, you’ll be busy working while initiating some major lifestyle changes. An improved diet along with a new fitness regimen is exactly what you need to start completely fresh—as within, so without. It’s been said that in order to get what we want, we have to be happy with what we have.  Well, you’re looking content throughout Leo’s transit—so much so that a most-organic career shift is imminent. Feeling the love and blessings all around this month will make all you touch turn to gold. Investing your emotional and spiritual energy into the universe will indeed make you feel whole and complete, and the world will a better place, thanks to people like you.

THE ABUNDANCE ISSUE Spring Edition of In-the-Cards

Three of CupsHello, my warm-weather awaiting bunnies! Spring is in the air, though it just looks like snowflakes here in NYC! Still, the sun’s strut into Aries today, March 20, marks the beginning of the astrological new year, and thus, it’s the perfect time to say it loud and say it proud:

I AM THE PERSONIFICATION OF ABUNDANCE.

This Abundance issue of In-the-Cards includes:
~spring specials and new reading deals
*including an interview and special run by Massage Therapist John Stanley Long!
~spring tarotscopes for your sign
~a heads-up on astrological events
~other tips on attaining abundance—Aries style!

Aries is the sign that starts it all, and its secret of success is ACTION. If you’ve experienced setbacks over the past 6-12 months, this newsletter will help inspire you to come back alive even stronger. Aries, as a sign, is the ultimate master of “bouncing back”—take Aries Robert Downey Jr., for example. His “less-than-zero” persona of the past has transformed into the “Ironman.” Like him, during the sun’s transit through Aries, we too can come back stronger and ready to conquer more than ever before!

Like a flower popping up from ice-patched cracks in the pavement, Aries seeks the light after the cold of winter. Now marks a time of fresh starts and new cycles. Considering the economic climate (not that I like to beat a dead horse) what I believe we all need is an abundance perspective. So herein, you’ll find some tips and tricks to this end.

But instead of rehashing the important though over-wrought concept of positive thinking, I propose your body as a way of empowering your world and changing your mind.

The Key to Abundance: Flow
The word “affluence” comes from the Latin, affluere—meaning “to flow.” And due to the current economic climate, “to flow” is exactly what we need to do. Happiness generates wealth because we’re more inclined to flow with our feelings, and less inclined to numb ourselves with excessive thoughts or substances. In essence, when we express the richness within ourselves, we become rich…our internal wealth is reflected externally.

In an effort to start expressing our internal wealth and  flowing with it as to live a life of abundance, I’ve consulted massage therapist John Stanley Long LMT, CME to teach us a thing or two about how our physical body may be a short-cut to living a life of abundance. John’s system of massage incorporates the concept of “intuitive touch.”

Question 1:
You refer to what you do as “intuitive touch”—would it be fair to say you’re like a psychic massage therapist?

Answer 1:
I believe that all touch is intuitive, it is one of the senses and the skin is the body’s largest sensory organ. But just as some people are gifted with perfect pitch, others have a keen ability to sense with their touch—I’ve developed and honed my natural aptitude with formal education and practical experience. Certainly I solicit and attend to my clients’ voiced concerns (i.e., my lower back hurts, etc.) prior to our sessions, but I do not limit myself to their verbal cues. Rather, a therapeutic massage causes electromagnetic energy to be transferred from the therapist to the client and vice versa, commonly referred to as qi; it is during this process that my intuition enables me to feel deep within the client’s body tissue and adjust my touch accordingly, by working deeper, moving to passive stretching, and so on.

Question 2:
What are some of the benefits of massage?

Answer 2:
The benefits of massage are numerous. Experts estimate that upwards of ninety percent of disease is stress related, and it’s generally accepted that nothing ages us faster than stress, both inwardly and outwardly. From a physiological perspective, the benefits of massage include strengthening the immune system, increasing circulation, lowering blood pressure, improving joint flexibility, promoting tissue regeneration (reducing scar tissue/stretch marks), just to name a few. Psychologically, massage therapy releases endorphins, the body’s natural painkiller, it decreases anxiety, enhances sleep quality, improves concentration, and perhaps most important, provides an integration of mind and  body as a result of the balancing of emotional and spiritual balance through true relaxation.

Question 3:
Would you say that massage is conducive to flow, and if so, how and why?

Answer 3:
Very much so. Massage is conducive to flow because the therapist follows the direction of the blood as it returns to the heart, thereby enhancing the natural flow. Also, with some types of massages, the therapist focuses on the body’s meridians, releasing toxins and thereby allowing the body’s natural rhythms to flow […] I think massage therapy makes you better, plain and simple. If you feel physically and spiritually better, you’re likely to have more energy, vitality, make better choices in your life, and so on.  Besides, Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, was known to advocate a daily massage for the maintenance of good health.  Who am I to argue with him?

ARIES
From March 20 to April 20~ Queen of Cups
While the sun transits through your solar first house of Identity, you’ll be ready to reinvent yourself yet again, this time taking into account how your friends and associations enhance your persona. Now is the time in which you’re fascinated by the concept of love and emotion, and you’re learning more about yourself and humanity through the telling sea of your compassion.
From April 20 to May 20~Eight of Cups
While the sun transits your second house of earned income, it may be important for you earn a few extra dollars, or at least stash some away for when it’s NOT a rainy day. It’s also important for you to leave behind that which no longer supports your goals, dreams and ideals. You’re apt to leave the ‘rat race’, and pack up your toys and go home. In all that you do, to thine own self be true.
From May 20 to June 20~ Ten of Disks
While the sun transits your third house of communication, you will be more flirty and communicative. Since Mercury will be in retrograde throughout May, it may be great to re-connect with someone from the past, as you’ll pick up just where you had left off. You have wealth, family, and heritage supporting you at this time, so concentrate on letting your internal wealth become externally visible—in other words, let your love light shine!

TAURUS
From March 20 to April 20~ Four of Cups
As Aries transits your 12th House of Karma, you may want to bump up your privacy. During this time, make sure you schedule time to meditate, and pay extra attention to your feet, treating yourself to pedicures, foot massages, new orthopedics, etc.) You’ll be in a stable position, financially and emotionally, so relish this sense of luxury.
From April 20 to May 20~ Knight of Cups
During your birthday month, you’ll be ready to redefine yourself better than ever before, paying extra attention to your place in the world—as you’re shining in the public arena throughout the entire year. Love seems to be on your mind, and you may be feeling more mushy and romantic than usual, as the spirit of romance ushers into your life. Watch out for forgetfulness (i.e. the boiling bunny on the stove—just kidding!), as you’ll be less practical than usual.
From May 20 to June 20~ Two of Swords
More money is more possible for Taurus when they start communicating outside of their comfort zone. Try not to take an extreme stance in relationships. You may view a relationship as being all bliss or bullocks—there’s a middle ground, and shades of gray, even in the same moment. Life is ironic like that.

GEMINI
From March 20 to April 20~ Queen of Swords
Hopes, wishes, expectations, and of course Friends are fired up for you once the Sun enters Aries. You’re also feeling exceptionally intelligent, as your emotions direct your intellect. Make sure you opt to see things in the most optimistic way possible, so keep yourself clear—perhaps by wearing the color white more often.
From April 20 to May 20~ Knight of Wands
It’s like you’re expecting retribution but acting defensive with the wrong people. As a result, you may feel less social and more suspicious during this karmic time for you. Try not to let your neurotic thoughts leave your lips, because you’ll soon grow sick of bandaging up everyone’s hurt feelings. Avoid the temptation toward bickering and lay low. You’re really itching to make changes during this time, and though some things cannot be helped, it is Mercury Retrograde starting May 6, so take caution with your desire to destroy in an effort to then create.
From May 20 to June 20~ Ten of Cups
Some kind of higher consciousness is the panacea for increasing your worth as you create a new identity throughout your birthday month. This means higher education, publishing,  foreign travel, or anything that helps you and others see the world from a higher perspective. You’re filled up with an emotion right now, so make sure you express it as to start a new emotional cycle.

CANCER
From March 20 to April 20~ Seven of Disks
The world is a stage especially for you at the start of the astrological new year. Now, it’s a matter of utilizing others’ resources as best as possible to achieve fast what you set out to do. There’s an energy that makes you want to set out on a new path; fear of failure is normal, but the more perfect you feel, the less likely you are to keep groundless fears from standing in your way. Seize the day!
From April 20 to May 20~ Ten of Wands
This Taurus transit will be less down-to-earth and more fun for you than the “rooted” feeling it will give most everyone else. Teach your social circle a thing or two about the stability one finds in friends and dreams. Enough with the pressure, already! It seems like you’ve been running yourself ragged, and there’s one thing you’re doing that you need to lay off of—stop adding ingredients to the soup, and just let it simmer on the stove. Sometimes you actually have to let a problem solve itself, though your effort is admirable.
From May 20 to June 20~ Seven of Swords
Oftentimes a month before a birthday one feels tentative, and this may be the case for sentimental Cancer, who’s not always ready to move on. This will be an emotional time; let the cosmic oceans of the universe wash over you and restore you to perfect health before the start of a brand new banner year. Victory comes with a price, that price helps you to realize who your true friends and allies are. You’re hyper-individual at this moment in time, and about to be set apart, which in the long run, bodes very well for you.

LEO
From March 20 to April 20~ Prince of Wands
You’re totally inspired, and at your best for scintillating successes! You’re on fire, and apt to brighten the world just by your smile ;-) A great time to write that book, Leo—or do something to gain or give a broader perspective of this crazy planet we’re on. A lot has changed, but you're so busy, you might not realize all the great things you’ve done.
From April 20 to May 20~ Six of Cups
Your place in the world is important during Taurus time, so make sure you don’t stay too long on your soapbox when defending your position; if others don’t recognize what you’ve achieved, they aren’t worth your time anyway. However, since Mercury will be Retrograde in May, it may not be a good time to have one of your legendary flip-outs. I’m not saying you should ‘bend over and take it’, just that now’s the time for a middle-ground—i.e. assert yourself without throwing a tantrum. It’s also a good time to enjoy simple pleasures, and see the world through the eyes of a child, as to get yourself inspired once again.
From May 20 to June 20~ Eight of Cups
Friends and hopes, dreams, wishes and expectations! Go to as many barbeques, beach parties, amusement parks and festivities as possible, and through both the simple and extraordinary, re-experience the wonder of you. Once you’ve had some diversion, it’s time to move on from the known to the unknown—you’re about to seek deeper meaning.

VIRGO
From March 20 to April 20~ Queen of Wands
Relax, Virgo: Nothing is that serious. Though it may seem that way, as the sun transits through your solar eighth house of sex, death and taxes. This is actually a great time to CUT OFF that which is no longer working, and FLOW. Holding on tooth and nail will not help you win this battle. The past is gone, let it go and be free. Now is the time to really master your sense of self-knowledge: Who are you and what do you require? What do you simply no longer wish to put up with? Strike a balance between letting go and asserting yourself.
From April 20 to May 20~ Ace of Pentacles
A perfect time to get out of the United States—or to teach or learn, to write or read a book, specifically one that expands your philosophy of life. Yours is the sign most likely to learn from others as you teach what you know. Now is the time for real-world impact—either through putting to test all you’ve learned, or guiding someone else who might make a difference with your tutelage.
From May 20 to June 20~ The Sun
After a rejuvenating, galvanizing experience the month prior, you’re ready to take center stage. Now don’t be shy—we all know the shyest ones are the biggest hams!

LIBRA
From March 20 to April 20~ The Emperor
You’re apt to be as busy as the sun enters Aries, ordering everyone around (as you cardinal signs are so inclined.) The results will be worth it, just make sure you take time out to gauge your progress while climbing up the ladder of success. The sun in Aries will highlight all your partnerships, and it looks like this sun opposition will not bother you one bit.
From April 20 to May 20~ Nine of Wands
You will not be asking what you can do for others, but asking yourself what others can do for you during the sun’s transit through your solar eighth house of other people's resources. There’s someone ready to make an investment on an interesting little project—perhaps you have a idea you’d like to share? There seems to be one task on your plate you should complete before Mercury’s retrograde—give yourself a treat that’ll get your spirit back, and then back to work you go!
From May 20 to June 20~ Knight of Disks
This will be a great time to expand your consciousness, either with a trip to a foreign country, or a re-evaluating journey of your philosophy—whichever route toward higher awareness you choose, make sure it’s fun, as you’re really inclined to put on your party hat and have a really good time! Still, the material (work) and/or physical (health) is/are the top priority/ies for you this month, and it seems you will be enjoying the effort you’re exerting.

SCORPIO
From March 20 to April 20~ Two of Cups
Love seems to be on your mind, Scorpio! Yet another reason to step up your game! While you seem to have short-term goals covered, perhaps look at the whole, big picture and redefine each day’s ‘structuring red thread’ (protocol) to make sure your dreams come true.
From April 20 to May 20~ Two of Cups
The sun shines a light on one of your bittersweet partnerships, and this energy will come up against your growing family. If you want your mate and family to come together but still love you in their own way, that’s totally possible. Stop expecting conflicts and just employ solutions. Now is the time to make your plans real, so there’s no use in fighting a fight you’ve already won.
From May 20 to June 20~ Queen of Swords
Of course, the sun’s in Gemini and everyone’s flitting around from pool parties to plays in the park, and you’re ready to sever ties. And if you’re not wanting to cut someone off, you want to start off on a new course with someone else, thus dissolving the previously established expectations. Keep it light and remember, Mercury is Retrograde in May, so draw lines only in pencil or EraserMate. If you’re acting as if you’ve been scorned, ask yourself if you’ve made what you require at work and/or a relationship clear. It seems at times you think everybody else is just as intuitive/intelligent as you.

SAGITTARIUS
From March 20 to April 20~ Knight of Wands
Spring is here, and Sagittarius is ready to play! The Aries sun gets along so well with yours,  so this may be the most fun time of the year—for yourself and everyone who gets to enjoy your company. It seems as if you have these brilliant ideas of how to have fun and get everyone together—so implement your plans; if you build it, they will come!
From April 20 to May 20~ Five of Wands
After the fun of the last month, you may be reviewing the strategies you’ve employed in terms of day-to-day protocol. A new puppy could be just the energy you need to ‘shake things up’ a bit! Also, it seems not everyone may be as enthusiastic about your new plans and ideas as you—don’t despair, just express your ideas, and perhaps be willing to wait for others to come around to your way of thinking.
From May 20 to June 20~Eight of Cups
As the sun transits your house of partnerships, the focus is on your relations to others. You’ll be ready to negotiate, and push past your stretch more than ever before; your new and improved ability to communicate has and will continue to stylize your life in way much better than ever before. This means, however, leaving behind the known for the unknown—as your summer will be a journey toward deeper meaning in which you’ll leave some of the past behind.

CAPRICORN
From March 20 to April 20~ Eight of Disks
Home and family will be epicenter of your universe the month the sun jaunts through Aries, and the more you value your friends, hopes, wishes and expectations, the more you will prosper all-around. Remember, too, that your penchant for prudence could serve you well in the friendship arena—if friends are valuable, make sure you cultivate new growth while maintaining what's currently working in those relationships.
From April 20 to May 20~ Adjustment
What pleasure to be had when the sun enters Venus-ruled Taurus. Now’s the time to move beyond your stretch, and consider going back to those pleasurable pursuits you may have stuffed in lieu of more responsible activities. It also seems like this is the astrological month for balance, setting things right, which means a court case or partnership could reach a verdict.
From May 20 to June 20~ Knight of Pentacles
Your routine should be revised in May, and you should carve out of the daily sched some activity that will add humor, health and music to your life.

AQUARIUS
From March 20 to April 20~ Three of Disks
Communications will be big for you throughout the sun’s stint through Aries. You’re even more quick than usual, so take time to dream while others are trying to perceive your monster ideas. You have the framework in place—a strong foundation which can be built upon—so onward and forward you go!
From April 20 to May 20~ Ace of Cups
Home and family are important aspects during Taurus time—take time to reconnect with loved-ones on another level. Consider how your expanding identity complements your family, and how your family enhances your identity. Now is the time to move mountains not with words made of blades, but with the magic of your heart. There are miracles around you now, so enjoy the extraordinary happenings.
From May 20 to June 20~ Five of Wands
Fun, fun, fun for you when the sun transits through flirty Gemini. Get in as much fun as possible during the last astrological month of spring, because the focus will be on work and a change to the daily routine in the summertime. There will be an adjustment needed—change and some accompanying conflict. Work on going with the flow, and moving with the current; things will work out, regardless of those monkey-wrenches that seem to muck up your utopian bliss.

PISCES
From March 20 to April 20~ Three of Disks
The focus will be on finance as the sun rams through Aries. Expect karma for both short-cuts and good deeds, while focusing on your values. Let what you value in your life show throughout this whole year’s “system of change.” You’ve created a framework that will survive surprises—in fact, your accomplishments give you a foundation on which more can be built now more than ever.
From April 20 to May 20~ The Chariot
Communications of all kinds will be highlighted throughout Venus-ruled Taurus time; do you best to see to it that yours and others’ needs are effectively met—the key word is mutual: Mutual discovery equates to mutual success. Additionally, it looks like you’re about to embark on a new course of communication, and there’s plenty of energy for you not only to attain victory, but to enjoy it, too. Expect a trip now, or to learn of one coming up on the horizon.
From May 20 to June 20~ Nine of Swords
Home and family will be important throughout Gemini-time. This is an ideal time to involve the family in an artistic project that incorporates the hands—i.e. photography, craft-making, and even hand-shaking, as to patch up possible fall-outs around December, when you may have been uncharacteristically unfair. When you make peace with others, you’re really making peace with yourself, as you’re the one typically feeling bad when there’s a lack of harmony in relationships. May the power of “God” or the “universe” speed through your troubles and restore your peace of mind, bringing you closer to perfect health.

Venus for your ABUNDANCE
The Morning Star
In March, we’ll see transiting Venus turning from evening star to morning star at the end of March. Having turned retrograde on March 6, 2009, it will begin to rise ahead of the rising Sun on March 28-29, 2009.  Venus' turn to "morning star" indicates a time of "looking ahead" that will last for ten months until Venus turns to back to its evening star cycle on January 12, 2010.

This is the perfect time to start a new life, and initiate new plans in the astrological year—i.e. really cut cake in 2009! The next 10 months from late March 2009 to January 2010 will allow us to forge ahead with new creative projects, new relationships, new jobs, and new lives. Remember Kermit the Frog’s song in which he mentions the morning star?

Who said that every wish
Would be heard and answered
When wished on the morning star
Somebody thought of that
And someone believed it
And look what it's done so far

The Rainbow Connection – Kermit the Frog (and Debbie Harry in this link)

Further, when Venus re-enters Pisces April 11, our attention turns to spiritual yearnings for soul connection. With such a spiritualized transit, our feelings of love are likely to expand beyond the personal to the universal. And while so connected to the universe, our dreams may have a better chance than ever before of coming true.

In essence, we don’t realize often enough that our universal connection can help make our dreams come true. Though our initial spark, a la Aries, starts it all, we don't have to make all our dreams come true alone—we have everyone and everything in the universe to help us reach our goals.

With Venus' retrograde up until April 17, it may not be the best time for buying luxury items and getting plastic surgery: Venus’ job is to beautify, so when she’s retrograde, she’s apt to be less keen on her aesthetic sensibilities. Many, too, say it’s not the ideal time to get married, and relationships may be less easy-going than usual. Still, keep you eyes on the morning star, and use this time to dream up whatever you want to come into your life.

Other astrological happenings…

March 22: Jupiter quincunx Saturn
These two social planets—Saturn, the planet of restriction, and Jupiter, the planet of expansion—coming together mark the perfect time to re-assess your lifestyle. Draft a budget conducive to prudence that also includes life’s finer things!

March 23: Sun squares Pluto
When the assertive Aries Sun squares intense Pluto in Capricorn, we need to take into consideration those things outside of our realm of control. When we focus on what we can change within our grasp, we don't waste time on frustration.

March 25: Mercury enters Aries
Definitely start a constructive project now, else you may be prone to use this fiery communication energy to drum up unnecessary conflicts. This strong and initiating aspect encourages you to think big and make something new and awesome happen!

*March 26: New Moon in Aries*
Think of this new moon as the light at the end of the tunnel, a time to dream up all that you want to come into your life, and partner with the universe to make it happen! It’s the perfect time to re-invent yourself and become the person you were meant to be.

April 3: Venus squares Pluto
Let go (Pluto) of old relationship values
(Venus) that don't fit any more. Beating around the bush may be like ignoring the white elephant in the room. Rest assured, everyone will feel much better once the air is cleared.

April 4: Pluto turns retrograde
Pluto retrogrades in ambitious Capricorn, prompting you to transform your life in order to achieve. While the world is focused on making broken systems work, examine the “systems’ in your own life and make adjustments if necessary.

April 4: Mars opposite Saturn
Mars in Pisces puts the focus on making your dreams actualize, while Saturn in Virgo is all about how you build, not just what you're building. With these two power planets opposing, we’re asked to rise to the occasion, and attend to the priorities of our life’s work.

*April 9: Full Moon in Libra*
As full moons are a time of release, this one in Libra will help us shed our old, worn out shells and rise higher than ever before. Just as the phoenix is reborn, we also have enough energy at this time to let go of the past and become our highest selves. Best yet, Libra’s coolness is just what we need to add decorum to our full-throttle-attack-mode objectives initiated under the Aries new moon.

April 9: Mercury enters Taurus
The communication planet in earthy, practical Taurus slows down your mind, giving you time to figure out what’s working and what’s not. This transit brings the kind of stable, sensible energy perfect for making our base secure.

April 15: Mars conjunct Uranus
When the planet of war steps up to the planet of rebellion, we’re talking about revolution, destruction and evolution, depending on everybody’s mood. In essence, we can make the most of this transit by being patient and choosing independent ventures. Indeed, directing this energy into something that matters to you would be—holy smoke!—a great thing to do.

MERCURY RETROGRADE May 7 to May 31
Another reason to get all our ducks in a row and to fire away now, is that we’ll want to rest during Mercury’s retrograde phase. With Mercury and the sun in Taurus during this time, it’s actually not a bad time to slow down; Venus-ruled Taurus, though determined, is inclined to recline, so enjoy the comfy chair as you rest up, review, and reflect on the next stage of the plan.

Still, there’s a golden two-week window of opportunity, marking Venus’ direct motion and the start of Mercury Retrograde—April 19 through May 3. So really push yourself during those two weeks, as your efforts during this time will bring the most reward.

Valentine’s Day Inspiration: Antiquated Traditions, A Tribute to the day’s Scorpio Moon

Hope this special Valentine’s Day edition of this newsletter finds you well, half-way through the second month of the year.
Historically, this is the time of year when songbirds began to choose their mates after the worst of winter. Many poets wrote of this tradition; perhaps most expressly, 17th century Englishman, Robert Herrick (1591-1674):

"Oft have I heard both youth and virgin say
Birds choose their mates, and couples too, this day,
But by their flight I never can divine,
When I shall couple with my Valentine."
--Herrick--

OBVIOUSLY, Mr. Herrick didn’t have Joshua as a psychic, else he may have had a heads-up as to matters of the heart. You all, however, may want to take advantage of my Valentine’s Day specials, inspired by music, and of course, my love for you ;-) Act now, though, as I’ll only be feeling mushy until March 10, 2009, when these specials expire.

CLASSES
All of this love doesn’t end there, however. I am also offering BRILLIANT one-on-one CLASSES that are certain to make the most of your spring. A professional psychic since the 90s, I’ve been fortunate enough to work with the best psychics in the world at The Original Tremont Tearoom in Boston—the oldest, most reputable psychic institution world-wide. Having started working there at 17, I was inquisitive almost to a fault and picked the brains of everyone I worked with everyday. With a wealth of knowledge of tarot and astrology, I am certain my classes will give you a leg-up on whatever you wish to accomplish in your life.

Since the classes are ambitious—the four-week courses are for two hours each session—I have chosen to do individual classes. They’re intensive and highly individualized: For instance, before curriculum is devised, each student compiles lists of their ‘favorites’—favorite songs, art, movies, etc.—and from there, I create a lesson plan based upon what you already know and love, thus expediting the learning process. Since what I teach is based on the universal, the archetypes found in tarot and astrology can easily be ‘super-imposed’ upon those works that are already a part of you.

VALENTINE’S DAY SPECIAL ON CLASSES
PRICES: $300 for each 4-week course, which runs for 2-hours each session.
Save 10% on classes by registering by MARCH 10, 2009.

Course Offerings:

Tarot Level 1

Astrological Forecast for Valentine’s Day, 2009

On Feb. 14th—Valentine's day—the Moon will move into Scorpio at 9:55am and Mercury will move back into Aquarius at 10:32am. Mercury, which was Retrograding in January and went Direct on the 1st, now passes the point where it started its “backwards” phase, thus making it the perfect time to go full-speed ahead with your plans, including your love endeavors…

On Valentine’s Day, we have an intensity of feelings that could make Cupid blush; his bow will not only be exceptionally piercing, but explosive as well! The moon in seductive Scorpio and Venus in Aries cast shades of red over the entire evening, while Libra rising at 10pm tempers our passions with degree of detachment, dignity and diplomacy. (Perhaps we’ll opt for a game of footsie under the dinner table, as opposed to more lascivious and adrenalized risky behavior.)

Due to the strong influence of Scorpio and Aries, there’s never been a more perfect Valentine’s Day for red roses. (Incidentally, the letters of the word “rose,” when rearranged, form the word “Eros,” the god of love.) The sacred flower of Venus in its red glory is associated with strong emotions; the red rose is a symbol of both peace and war. As we’ve heard, the course of true love never did run smooth, and no one can attest to this better than Scorpio, where the moon is placed on this year’s Valentine’s Day.

If, however, you want to define your love in less extreme, black-and-white terms, consider giving the following colored roses, bearing in mind their associated meanings, to express your own groovy kind of love:

Coral: Desire
Lavender: Enchantment, Uniqueness

Orange
: Fascination

Peach: Modesty, Gratitude, Admiration and Sympathy

Pink (Pale): Grace, Joy and Happiness

Pink (Dark): Thankfulness, Friendship and Admiration

Red: Love, Respect and Courage

Deep Red: Beauty and Passion
White: Innocence, Purity, Secrecy, Silence, Reverence, Humility and True Love
Yellow: Joy, Friendship, Jealousy, Hope and Freedom

*Black: Farewell

Red/White : Unity or Engagement

Yellow/Orange: Passionate Thoughts

Yellow/Red: Congratulations

*There is no such thing as black roses (unless you spray-paint them); there are, however, some of deep red as to suggest black; e.g., Rosa 'Black Magic' and Rosa 'Ruby Celebration.' And this is indeed probably the most perfect rose for Scorpio, who are keenly aware of the transformative (death as in rebirth) factor derived from extreme emotion.

Valentine’s Day Inspiration: Antiquated Traditions, A Tribute to the day’s Scorpio Moon

Due to the moon’s transit in Scorpio on the night Feb. 14, we are also attracted to the antiquated. To be inspired by the Scorpionic tone of Valentine’s Day, keep in mind the myths and traditions that may set your heart aflutter! In closing, I wish you a love-filled Valentine’s Day, with if anything else, a deep, secure and impenetrable love for yourself and the world at large. May you have luck in love that pulsates from the greatest love of all—the one you have for you.

~In Great Britain, a woman would write the names of her sweethearts on small scraps of paper which would be placed on clay balls. The balls were dropped into water with the belief that whichever scrap of paper surfaced first would be the name of the man destined to be the future husband.

~In England, centuries ago, children would dress up as adults and go singing from home to home. One such verse was:
"Good morning to you, valentine;
Curl your locks as I do mine--
Two before and three behind.
Good morning to you, valentine."

~An old English custom was for people to call out, "Good morning, 'tis St. Valentine's Day." The individual who succeeded in being the first to say this then expected to receive a present from the one to whom it was said.

~By tradition, a young girl was supposed to eventually marry the first eligible male she met on Valentine's Day.

~Traditionally, if a young female is curious enough—and brave—she could conjure-up the appearance of her future spouse by visiting a graveyard at midnight on the Eve of St. Valentine's Day and then singing a prescribed chant while running around the church 12 times.

~In Wales, wooden love spoons would be carved and given as gifts. Favored decorations for the spoons were hearts, keys and keyholes...the decorations meaning "You unlock my heart."

~One of the most ancient of Valentine's Days rituals (dating from the Middle Ages and possibly earlier) was the practice of writing the names of young ladies on slips of paper and placing them in a bowl. The lady whose name was drawn by an eligible bachelor became his valentine and he wore the name on his sleeve for one week. It is believed that the saying "to wear your heart on your sleeve" may have originated from this custom.

~It was once believed that if a woman noticed a robin flying overhead on Valentine's Day, it meant she would marry a sailor. If the woman saw a sparrow, she would marry a poor man, but be very happy. If she saw a goldfinch (a male songbird with yellow plumage), it was said her husband would be a man of great wealth.

~In some countries, a young woman may receive a gift of clothing from a prospective suitor. If the gift is kept, then it means she has accepted his proposal of marriage.

~If an individual thinks of five or six names considered to be suitable marriage partners and twists the stem of an apple while the names are being recited, then it is believed the eventual spouse will be the one whose name was recited at the moment the stem broke.

~To be awoken by a kiss on Valentine's Day is considered lucky.

~For a lady to sleep with a sprig of rosemary pinned inside the pillow on the Eve of Valentine's Day was once thought to encourage dreams of a future sweetheart.

~In Britain and Italy, some unmarried women would rise before sunrise on Valentine's Day and stand by the window watching for a man to pass. It was believed that the first man seen...or someone who looked very much like him...would be their husband within a year. Shakespeare alludes to this custom with the words he gave to his notable Ophelia:

“Good morrow! ‘Tis St. Valentine’s Day,
All in the morning betime
And I, a maid at your window,
To be your Valentine
~Hamlet Act IV, Scene 5

~In Denmark, it is customary to send pressed white flowers called snowdrops to friends.

~Symbols associated with Valentine's Day include: lace; love knots; lovebirds and doves; hearts, hands and "X"s.

~Lace, frills and ribbons have long been associated with the concept of romance, originating from the days of chivalry when a knight rode into battle sporting a ribbon or scarf presented to him by his "fair lady." Lace has been used throughout history in the making of women's handkerchiefs. In centuries gone by, if a lady dropped her handkerchief, a man might retrieve it for her; it was not unusual for a lady to intentionally drop her handkerchief into the path of an attractive man in order to encourage his attention. Thus, the literal definition of the word "lace" is to "snare" or "noose."

~Due to the belief that the heart is the core of all human emotions, the giving of a heart signified the giving of everything. Although the Ancients were unaware that the heart pumps blood through the circulatory system, they did know that a heart would beat faster when an individual was excited or upset and thus, saw the heart as the center of feelings. Throughout the ages, the heart has remained a symbol of love and the ancient belief lingers still in such sayings as: "She captured my heart," "I'm broken-hearted," and songs like Bon Joni’s “Shot Through the Heart” and Bryan Adams’ “Straight from the Heart.”

~The tradition of using an "X" to represent a kiss began with the Medieval practice of allowing those who could not write to sign documents with an "X". This was done prior to documents being witnessed and the signer would place a kiss upon the "X" to indicate sincerity. Thus, the letter "X" came to be synonymous with a kiss until, with the passage of time, this letter of the alphabet was commonly used at the end of correspondence to indicate a kiss.

A.
Universal Scoop
Congratulations to you all for surviving [hope, hope!] the Full Moon on December 12, and all its associated planetary hullabaloo. In essence, on the biggest and brightest Full Moon of the year, big-shot planets Pluto, Saturn, and Mars, responsible for Death, Time and War, respectively, were in what might be likened to an orgy that got out of hand. Now that we’re in the clear from that, be aware of the following transits to make the most of December:

Tuesday, December 16, 2008
Mars squares Saturn
, making action tango with time—we want to act, but our experience tells us that it might be too soon.
Luckily on this day, also, Mercury quintiles Uranus, giving us the go-ahead to respond to situations in an electrifyingly original way! The best panacea for inertia is doing something drastically different than you had thought of before.

Wednesday, December 24, 2008
Mercury sextiles Uranus
– This beneficial aspect on Christmas Eve sets the stage for witty repartee! Logical reasoning goes on in the subconscious, resulting in scintillating insight and its smooth communication.

Thursday, December 25, 2008
Mercury parallels Mars
this Christmas, further intensifying the intellectual breakthroughs experienced the night before. Now, however, action follows illumination—just make sure you can see the forest (whole picture) amidst that one brilliantly sparkling tree (monster idea).

Friday, December 26, 2008
Mercury trines Saturn
the day after Christmas, adding a serious tone to communications. A great day to get back to work, or to focus on the details necessary to enjoy a magical night Saturday…

Saturday December 27, 2008
Venus conjuncts Neptune
the Saturday after Christmas, making fantasies to come to life with Cupid flitting about!
Venus quincunxes Neptune
on this day, too, offering a great time to fall in love, so long as we do so with our eyes open!

Ironically, these Venus aspects with Neptune, which provide a “rose-colored” lens to the atmosphere, occur while the moon goes NEW into down-to-earth Capricorn. Thus, if we don’t temper our idealism with a dose of reality, we may be stormed out of utopia quick, realizing that we’re not in Kansas anymore!

Still this New Moon in Capricorn is a great, great, great day to dance your dreams into reality. Let your ideals capture your imagination and win over your heart; then get back to ‘business as usual’ to make your plans manifest!

December 28, 2008
Sun quintiles Uranus
this Sunday, best celebrated by brainstorming and/or brilliant conversation! This aspect makes minds lucid and lightning fast. Change is in the air, as our idiosyncratic quirks become charms of power that whisk us into a brand new year!

December 31, 2008
Saturn goes Retrograde
, meaning the planet of responsibility goes on a little vacation, slowing down the normal rate of activity so we can better develop our methods and strategies. The best use of this time is giving yourself a pat on the back; otherwise, we may be tempted to look back and dwell on all the ‘wouldas/couldas/shouldas’ that get us nowhere.

In this vein, for all those days Saturn is retrograde through May 17, I offer you lyrics from a Wallflowers song: “You’d have a wonderful day/if you could see/how lucky you are…God is not angry/not blind, deaf, or dumb/He knows how far you've come.”

- The Wallflowers “How Far You've Come” Rebel, Sweetheart : 2005

So, as Saturn slows down, ponder your past successes and examine how you had achieved them; use previous victories as models for future achievements. Look back in time, with your heart and mind toward the future, remembering how far you’ve come.

January 6, 2009 through January 18, 2010
Jupiter in Aquarius

Jupiter, the planet of luck and growth, leaves Capricorn and enters Aquarius in 2009. This yearly transit infuses the house it moves through, so check your charts to see what house Aquarius falls in, and expect expansion there. (For a general idea of how Jupiter may effect your sign, see WINTER TAROTSCOPES below).

Make best use of this transit by doing something concrete in the area your chart is affected, and derive something substantial from it. As Neptune, also in Aquarius, meets up with Jupiter, it becomes more apparent that we must achieve tangible, concrete results; thus, it’ll be important to remain grounded amidst those flashes of genius that inspire us through a brand new year.

All in all, Jupiter in Aquarius will expand those things under Aquarian domain. Look for mind-blowing advancement in television, music, technology, astrology, science, and humanity-based interests.

B. WINTER TAROTSCOPES —Joshua’s Signature Mix of Tarot and Astrology to help you make the most of Winter!

ARIES (March 21 -April 19)
With Jupiter transiting your solar 11th house, expect your circle of friends to grow, along with your hopes, dreams, wishes and expectations. You may also find yourself getting increasingly inventive; whereas you asked “why?” before, now you’ll assert, “Why not?!?”

There’s a grounding influence around you through Capricorn time (Dec. 21-Jan. 20), in which areas of career, family and reputation will become more important. All that, however, is a side thought—or so it seems—once we enter Aquarius (Jan. 21-Feb. 20). During Aquarian time, at best you may be poetic, artistic, and imaginative; at worst, super-sensitive, confused, and emotional. Once you set your mind on something, Aries, nothing can stop you—so decide early on to channel this unsure energy into useful activities. Once we enter Pisces (Feb. 21-Mar. 20), you’ll find the answers to who you are by looking at what you love and have loved, as Venus retrogrades through your sign from Mar. 6-Apr. 17.
Queen of Pentacles                           The Moon                       Six of Cups

TAURUS (April 20 -May 20)
As the planet of luck lights up your solar 10th house of position and honors, you’ll achieve a level of recognition in your chosen field. Don’t be surprised if your abilities are called to task by having to be a spokesperson or authority: House moms may lead PTA meetings, bankers may be asked to lead training seminars, etc. Additionally, expect gains in income the first five months of the year. Score!

Expect a respite regarding romantic matters in early 2009. You will find yourself more accepting and relaxed about love, and your patience will equate to peace in the family. You’ll notice how important your tone is on the home front, as if you provide the soundtrack throughout the day for a very special few.

All this success will require adjustments throughout Aquarius time (Jan. 21-Feb. 20). Throughout Pisces (Feb. 20-Mar. 20), you may feel weary regarding a situation. Is this perhaps a case of ‘once all is won, all is lost’? It’s going to be important to decide during this time if you’re outgrowing your environment or abandoning success.
Six of Wands                                     Justice                                     Eight of Cups

GEMINI (May 21 -June 20)
Jupiter’s stint through your solar 9th house of the higher mind will put the focus on learning, teaching and religion; you may expand such areas through foreign travel. Also, if there was ever a time to dust off that old manuscript and get it out there, this is the year, Gemini.

Expect a great catch throughout Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 20), leading to financial solvency as we enter Aquarius (Jan. 21). By Pisces time (Feb. 21-Mar. 20), you may have so many ideas, that you have trouble focusing on any one. Since the early part of winter will prove testament of your abilities, as you head toward spring you may have issues moving forward because you have so many options. A decision should be made on a particular course of action by the time the sun enters Aries (Mar. 21-Apr. 20).
Nine of Disks                           Knight of Pentacles                           Prince of Swords

CANCER (June 21 -July 22)
As Jupiter sojourns through your 8th house of rebirth, hitting Mars from Feb. 4 through March 14, draw the curtains, for bedroom activities may get hot-hot-hot! In this vein, perhaps, other people’s resources may become an area of interest for you. Finally, you may be seeking out what the world can do for you, as opposed to what you can do for the world.

Co-workers will be especially supportive throughout Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 20), which is good, because there may be moves affecting home, work and family, as a material cycle is closing. Things may seem quiet—but once we enter Aquarius (Jan. 21-Feb. 19), there’s a breakdown and/or breakthrough that will make you feel truly at home throughout the sun’s voyage in Pisces (Feb. 20-Mar. 20).
The Hermit                              The Tower                      The Empress

LEO (July 23-August 22)
Relationships and partnerships of all kinds are highlighted as Jupiter’s transit through Aquarius beams a light on your partnerships. It may actually be you, Leo, who has to step up the drama to keep up with your mate—particularly when Mars adds some fuel to the fire from Feb. 4 through March 14. While partners in areas of love and business alike are on the up and up, resist the urge to compete—instead, challenge yourself to peak the next level.

You’re at your inspired best throughout Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 20), generating ideas with flashes of genius. In Aquarius (Jan. 21-Feb. 19), expect a more grounding influence, while you look back at what you’ve accomplished before tackling more. Pisces time (Feb. 20-Mar. 21) presents a stand-off with yourself—your best bet is to make decisions without the interference of the emotions: This is most important regarding investments, as taking a ‘wait and see’ approach throughout the first half of 2009 is best. You’re likely to laugh at the challenges you had faced earlier in the year, when the sun enters Aries (Mar. 21-Apr. 20), and your ‘Into the Groove’ like fellow Leo, Madonna.
Prince of Wands            Queen of Pentacles                  Two of Swords

VIRGO (August 23-September 22)
Hold on to your Windex, Virgo, because the daily regimen may be revamped as Jupiter transits your house associated with service, work and health. The daily protocol may be totally new, or you might slowly but surely be making those gradual changes that make a big difference (i.e. margarine instead of butter, water in lieu of soda, etc.) over time. If you’ve been wanting to get a pet, or another one, it's now ideal to buy that doggy in the window—or cat, since they tend to be less messy ;-)

Competent teamwork has you very pleased throughout Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 20), and quite a relief, indeed, comes in Aquarius time (Jan. 21-Feb. 19), throughout which your efforts receive ample reward. By the time we hit Pisces (Feb 20-Mar. 20), your accomplishments will give you the confidence to replace prudence with passion; just watch a tendency to go uncharacteristically overboard, as you’ll be in touch with the beast within—so guide it steadily toward the bull’s eye.

One way you can make use of this carnal energy is through your partnerships, when Mars enters that sector from March 14 through April 22. Quite frankly, either the sex will be fantastic or the arguments legendary; it’s in your best interest to choose the former, as your mate will be eliciting from you some feverish passions.

LIBRA (September 23-October 22)
If the Beach Boys were astrologers, they’d suggest you’ll have “fun, fun, fun” as Jupiter lights up your house of pleasure this year. Lots of entertainment to be had during this time—in fact, expect your life to be infused with a new romance or hobby that keeps you having fun and smiling throughout the rest of the year.

Throughout Capricorn time (Dec. 21-Jan 19), people from the past will help you end 2008 with a bang, as you look ahead to a pleasurable and prosperous new year. By the time the sun transits Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19), without even knowing it, you’ve acquired the world at your feet: People are in your corner, Libra, helping you attain the professional success you deserve, so expect big profits throughout 2009. Things may slow down for you in Pisces (Feb. 19-Mar. 20), as your ruling planet, Venus, will be in Retrograde from March 6 through April. 17. Venus’ deceleration is a great time to decide what to do by reflecting back on what you have loved. You may be wanting to hit the ground running throughout Aries time (Mar. 20-Apr. 20), but it might behoove you best to wait until the sun moves closer to Taurus, when you’ll be energized and motivated once again.
Six of Cups                              The World                      Four of Swords

SCORPIO (October 23-November 21)
Sometimes changes happen so organically, that they occur without expectancy and anticipation; such is the case as Jupiter infuses your home and family with an interconnectedness that is sure to inspire. The year is also great for real estate—buying or selling. If you take a chance and leave your comfort zone, you’ll get much more comfortable—just make sure major changes are decided and contracts are signed before or after Mercury’s retrograde, from Jan. 11 through Feb. 1, and give a week or two for good measure. If something does have to be signed, read the fine print, and perhaps allude to litigious tendencies, as to make sure changes work out in your best interest.

Creation is the name of your game throughout Capricorn time (Dec. 21-Jan.19). And in Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 20), all you’ve manifested brightens your life—and the lives of others—in a way that is dramatic, powerful, even warm and cozy. As love and beauty-minded Venus tours your fifth house of sex, true love and creativity from Jan. 3 to Feb. 2, you’ll feel almost afloat with the joy in your heart. Is this an old flame, Scorpio? A new job you had wanted before? Indeed, something “new” during this time ties into something associated with the past—maybe a past life, or maybe an old lesson. Nonetheless, it should have you bubbling over with delight. In Pisces time (Feb. 20-Mar. 21), your content should climax March 14 with something that you started earlier in the year. The lesson, Scorpio: Following that which has heart and meaning gives you an intensity of feeling that few others can experience; this brings out your watery essence, making you blissfully fall away, starting anew once again.
The Magician                                     The Sun                          10 of Cups

SAGITTARIUS (November 22-December 21)
Jupiter, your ruling planet, will be very comfortable moving into Aquarius, lighting up your 3rd house of communication. You may make brilliant strides learning something new, particularly something that incorporates your hands. Now is also a great time to put your brilliant thoughts on paper, as the clarity with which you communicate is apt to be crystal clear. Short distance journeys, too, are on the horizon, as your flirtations and humorous insights reach new heights.

Roles, and your role in particular in a group, take precedence throughout Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 20). By the time of Aquarius (Jan. 21-Feb. 19), you’re likely to understand another aspect of success, by connecting with those who express parts of yourself with which you are unaware. While relationships may not be fantastic while Venus retrogrades in your fifth house of romance from March 6 through April 17, friends, family and work associates are sure to make up for it. Parties and festivities galore are expected throughout Pisces time (Feb. 20-Mar. 20), during which you’re likely to feel exceptionally blessed. This sets in place a firm foundation to take a risk by Aries time (Mar. 21-Apr. 20), when all your lights shining within illuminate a new path.

CAPRICORN (December 22-January 19)
As Jupiter transits your solar second house of earned income, expect an increase in your bank balance—which is sort of like giving more tea to China, Capricorn! Make sure you take relaxation to the next level, perhaps with fabulous vacations or sumptuous spa visits, enjoying your hard-won rewards in unabashed style.

A very Happy Birthday month can be expected. Things cool down a bit, getting more business-like throughout Aquarius (Jan. 21-Feb. 19). Be patient during this time, even in family matters, as it may seem people are not “getting it.” Mercury is Retrograde during this time, so all of us are in a bit of a fog, even you, though it may not appear so. By the time we reach Pisces (Feb. 20-March 20), you’ll have to make a decision: Are you willing to go the extra mile to reach the next level, and in effect, make sacrifices to make this happen? Pluto in your sign has an unflinching desire to destroy all that is not real, so allow your relationships—both professional and personal—to evolve in a dynamic way. The first step in doing so is changing the way you relate to yourself.
Ten of Cups                    Queen of Swords                      Justice

AQUARIUS (January 20-February 18)
While Jupiter’s entrance into Aquarius alights your 1st house of self, everything you offer the world will be in high demand—so do reserve enough energy for the year-long haul. Likewise, you—and everything you represent—is likely to increase. Watch out for things you don’t wish to increase, like your waistline, debt, and your personality, in some instances—as staying in the background will prove to be the biggest challenge.

Judgments fall in your favor throughout Capricorn time (Dec. 21-Jan. 20). Though there is sure to be some pleasant surprises, Mercury will be in retrograde in your sign starting Jan. 11. Practice patience, for when this transit ends Feb. 1, it’s smooth sailing all the way. One day which may bring some significant change is January 26, as a Solar Eclipse in your sign demands you let go of outmoded attitudes, and focus instead on a new way of thinking. You’ll feel an increase of energy when Mars enters your sign from Feb. 4 through March 14, but going full-speed ahead is more likely throughout the month of Pisces (Feb. 21-Mar. 20), when you set the framework for a spring beyond compare.
Aeon                               Eight of Swords                       Two of Wands

PISCES (February 19-March 20)
As Jupiter transits your solar 12th house of karma, you will experience a level of understanding that makes you feel like you’re holding all aces. Though motion creates the self for all us, for you, it seems it does so in almost an ‘instant karma’ kind of way: You insult the boss to a co-worker, and return from lunch to find your cubicle dismantled. Likewise, you lend a helping hand to someone, and it’s like their psychic twin emerges at the exact moment you need help. The best strides this year will be made through meditation and even hypnosis: Program your subconscious to be reborn into who you need to be in order to get what you want. By virtue of like attracting like, you’ll fall in love—heart and soul—with a new you and a corresponding new life.

Throughout Capricorn time (Dec. 21-Jan. 20), the group becomes the focus, and your role within it may undergo restructuring. Smooth sailing over troubled waters, or at least transition, is expected throughout Aquarius (Jan. 21-Feb. 19). A decision or series of decisions will have to be made during your birthday month (Feb. 20-Mar. 20); whatever options you choose, make sure you’ll comfortably be able to swim in two directions.

Love is also in the air for you throughout your birthday month. You may go between feeling as if you're melding with someone completely or on a different planet entirely. So it goes! Enjoy the new feelings that emerge, as if you’re swimming in a refreshingly new ocean.

Newletter Update for 2009 - New "ASK JOSHUA" Section
Thanks for checking out this year’s last edition of the In the Cards! Stay tuned for 2009, in which the format of the newsletter will change—hopefully with your help. As I see this as a way in which I can give back to you, let me know if there’s anything you’d like the newsletter to feature.

In this vein, I will be starting an ASK JOSHUA section, in which I will use the tarot to explore questions that are either of interest to you personally or the general public. You can anonymously pose questions that will be answered in the newsletter by emailing me. In the meantime, check out the first installment of this section that helps OPRAH!

Question for Joshua:
Dear Joshua,
I have fallen off the wagon when it comes to healthy living, and recently tipped the scales at 200 pounds. I know some of this is attributable to my out-of-balance thyroid, but I'm mad at myself, as my frustration has made me start eating whatever I want, and that’s never a good thing.

This weight gain is especially a problem since I’m in the public eye and, by extension, so is my weight loss/gain rollercoaster. Joshua, in 1988, I wheeled a wagon loaded with fat onto the set of my talk show to represent a 67-pound weight loss while wearing a pair of size 10 Calvins. Now the wagon's empty, its contains now on my stomach, hips and thighs. How embarrassed I am that I’ve let myself go. I feel I’ve let the world down and am setting a poor example.

Joshua, help! What should I do to get back to being fit and healthy, and to show my fans that I’m not a failure in this regard?

Sincerely,
O.W.

Response from Joshua:
Dear O,
I pulled three cards for you regarding your problem/question:

Card One—The Fool: The good news is that—ironically—you may have been heading in the right direction by “eating whatever you want.” The Fool card shows a lack of care in regards to consequences—in this instance, quite a few extra helpings. The Fool starts the journey of the tarot, and here, we see the child-like aspect of yourself, being carefree and enjoying life. In essence, I think you should eat whatever you want, but I think you need to become clear on what you really desire: Do you really want to eat something and feel disgusting and guilty afterwards? Do you really want to clog your arteries, increase your cholesterol, have trouble moving, etc? No, O, you don’t. What I do believe you want to do, however, is avoid something perhaps more uncomfortable than a swollen stomach. With the emphasis on how full you feel, you perhaps avoid an even bigger pain, up a little higher—in your heart.

Card Two—Adjustment: This card represents balance after your foolhardy and delicious journey of debauchery. By moving the focus up your body, away from your stomach, you’ll reach a level of truth your higher self desires. Letting go and expressing your pain, you will no longer “want” foods that cause your body and psyche such strain. Thus, by focusing on what’s truly “eating you” and dealing with it, you’ll start to want to be healthy, you’ll start to want to exercise, you’ll start to want to eat right—and live.

O, surely there are some foods that are good for you that you like—eat them. Don't, however, go to the other extreme, as little changes last longer: Drown your veggies in butter if you want; if you're eating more greens, you're at least heading in the right direction. As for exercise, get over the fear of it, and just do it. Even if it's for five minutes, it's more than you did yesterday. With small, achievable goals, you're likely find the inspiration within that says, "I really don't need all this butter on my beans", "I can do more than five minutes on the treadmill" etc. Commit yourself to healthy living and just start.

Card Three—The Sun: There is a happy day in store for you. The sun card shows that you’ll feel as radiant and sparkling as the sun. This card is also tied to fame, and being celebrated. But a warning comes as well: being too vain. Are you really serving your fanbase by focusing on your weight? In a sense, yes; others have weight/eating issues, too, and it helps many to know you’re ‘one of us.’ However, in this instance, since your attempts have, let’s face it, been somewhat futile, it’s like the blind leading the blind.

It also may be irresponsible: Firstly because you send a message that “fat is bad” with wagons of lard, gaggles of gurus and whatnot, and thus perpetuate the concept that success is measured by how much one weighs. O, this is your issue. If success means size 10 Calvins, that’s fine; but please keep such superficial conundrums to yourself, else you’ll infect others with this uncharacteristically shallow psychological hang-up. However, since you cannot ‘unring a bell’ and you’ve shined a light on your ever increasing/decreasing girth, you now have a challenge to illuminate those real issues that you’ve been obfuscating with food/weight loss/weight gain.

Finally, let us not forget our place in the world: Your job is to create and moderate a format for communication and clarity, which makes the world a better place. You’ve been extraordinarily successful. And though I applaud you for having the courage to show the world your “Achilles' heel,” your job is not to look super-fabulous, whatever that means to you: Your job is to teach as you learn, to moderate debate on topics worthy of exploration. In this vein, whatever ‘plagues’ the people in the world, whether it be addictions to food, relationships, drugs, alcohol, shopping or Nintendo, is just a symptom of a much larger problem. Granted, in “scapegoating” a substance and/or behavior, it becomes a problem in and of itself, further keeping the focus off the real issues.

If you have a question for Joshua that you would like answered in his Newsletter, drop me a line.

In closing, have a safe, happy and healthy holiday season, and cheers to a brand new year!

A. Universal Scoop—Sun in Scorpio: A Time of Revelation, Regeneration & Rebirth.

Hello! What better way to celebrate the sun’s entrance into Scorpio than to reach out to my favorite people—you, my clients! I also, in true Scorpionic fashion, have a hidden agenda; in fact, it’s on behalf of the sign of Scorpio…

See, there’s no other sign of the zodiac that has been so maligned, if only because it’s misunderstood. When people think of Scorpio, their trademark “stinger in the tail” comes to mind. But people too often fail to realize that the depth of Scorpio’s feeling nature creates the need to have a stinger in order to survive. And sure, there are people who hurt others just for kicks, and Scorpios as well as all signs are among them. Perhaps it’s just because Scorpio knows emotion so well that they know the most effective means of retribution.

The glyph of Scorpio is like the letter M with a phallic-like arrow coming off it. The arrow heralds back to the sign’s connection to Mars, but more importantly, its preceding passive and grounded M part shows its strictly defensive posture, as opposed to an offending/offensive one: Never forget, Scorpio is a water sign—it’s passive, negative, fixed water; but due to its co-rulership by Mars (its other being Pluto), Scorpio is a fighter, albeit more of the ninja-warrior type, as opposed to Mars-ruled Aries, who are more akin to boxers in full-throttle attack mode. Survivalist Scorpio, however, tend to have an arrow in their bow, and when prodded, they let it go; that’s why they’re so quick with a comeback and can get to the point rather swiftly, and typically with more finesse than their archer-wielding Sagittarian neighbors, whose birthdays follows.

What’s not given enough credence when it comes to Scorpio is their compassion. Theirs is a feeling-oriented sign, determined in their pursuit of truth—which, like a sword, cuts both ways. Speaking of cutting, in the tarot, Scorpio is symbolized by Major Arcana #13: Death. A powerful energy, indeed, which tarot-wise does not typically denote physical death, but rebirth: the cutting off of the outmoded, those aspects of our lives which no longer prove useful, those we’ve outgrown. Perhaps this is why the best stony-faced surgeons of the world fall under the sign of Scorpio, or why Scorpios make such effective artists and psycho-therapists: They know how to get to the core of an issue, and aren’t afraid of ridding ills in the pursuit of healing, happiness and health. In effect, we all need Scorpio energy in order to live better lives.

A.1 New Moon in Scorpio: October 28, 2008.
We all have Scorpio somewhere in our chart, granted some more than others, but we all could use the creative power of Scorpio to better our lives; consider doing so under this year’s New Moon in Scorpio, October 28, 2008, 7:14 PM EST. The New Moon, and its two week “waxing” period thereafter, offer us a great opportunity to do something NEW. On this New Moon in particular, plant seeds of desire that originate from your depths. Look beyond pride to tap into the essence of your needs; allow your ego to die to be reborn into what you actually are at your core. This is a sign of truth, and the truth shall set you free. If it’s tough, use another brilliant gift of Scorpio: Imagination! By letting the self die metaphorically, we become aware of infinite possibilities. By letting the old die and thus gaining perspective of possible new worlds, we can help others. In the words of Scorpio Whoopi Goldberg, “We're here for a reason. I believe a bit of the reason is to throw little torches out to lead people through the dark.”

B. Happy Halloween! What Will You Be?
All this “midnight of your soul” stuff has arrived just in time for Halloween—my favorite holiday! Who are you going to be? Make your decision carefully! Though non-denominational myself, I’ve worked with witches, those who study Wicca, and they believe what you dress as on this highest of holidays (which they call Samhain) determines the energy you’ll usher in for the next year's harvest. Though I believe thought precedes magic, that if you don’t ‘buy into’ such possible Halloween costume repercussions they won’t affect you, consider still this little anecdote…

I met a friend from college in late August; I love her, she’s a sweetheart. When speaking about her plans for this year’s Halloween, she mentioned how last year she rebuked those “sexy nurse” outfits and the like, and opted instead to be a frumpy, overweight bag lady, later conceding that since the previous year she had gained 25 pounds, while asking me if I could hold one of her bags. “Hmmmmmmm,” I thought to myself…

What am I going to be for Halloween? Gosh, golly, why thank you for asking! You’ll have to find out when I go over to your house for a party…

C. Let’s Get this Party Started, Right!?!
Yes, indeed, what is Halloween, really, without Joshua? A few of my daring clients have decided to take the plunge and invite their friends over for a party with me serving, tarot cards in tow, as entertainment. As far as I’m concerned, the Halloween season lasts throughout all of Scorpio, so if you’re looking to get the ball rolling in terms of revelation, regeneration or rebirth—let me be your go-to guy! I always love doing parties, and promise not to frighten your guests, eat all your food, or end the night with a lamp-shade over my head—such extenuating services cost extra anyhow ;-)

D. A Little Class Goes a Long Way…
And speaking of decorum, a little class does indeed go a long way. I’ve been fortunate enough to work with 40 students, teaching tarot and astrology. I am confident that the key archetypes in tarot and astrology not only open doors to 'universal knowledge’ but also may open doors to a new world, one of your own making. As you know, I don’t have an exceptional amount of space, but am willing to work with those of you who wish to tap into the wealth of knowledge I’ve acquired to further advance your journey in this ever-expanding world. So, whether you wish to use tarot and astrology as a tool of transformation, as a healing/growing game with friends, or to even go “pro”—I look forward to working with you if you have such a desire.

E. Gifts for Librans, Scorpions, and Sagittarians
Tsk, tsk! I don’t care if the economy is in shambles, if you’re tripping over your feet on the way to job interviews, or running out of cotton balls to insulate your cardboard house—no excuses!—I haven’t seen nearly enough Libras, Scorps or Sags to give you your 15% Off Happy Birthday readingse. Cheers to a happy and prosperous Brand New Year!

HELLO, KIDDIES! Thanks for reading the Fall edition of my quarterly newsletter (with special *surprise* editions here and there) that’ll offer you insight about the goings-on in the universe and how you might ‘play your cards’ right, using spiritual principles and knowledge of the sometimes-wacky planetary activity!

I’ve been working as a professional psychic since 1996, but only recently have been practicing in the greatest city in the world, since receiving exposure by Cat Greenleaf of WNBC and Nicole Tourtelot of Time Out New York. Since January, I’ve been fortunate enough to do psychic readings, and meet great people I would have otherwise never had the chance to meet. I encourage you all to email  questions, thoughts, ideas, etc.,(josh@psychicjoshua.com)  so that you may add to this newsletter, helping myself and others walk a happier, more spiritual path with practical feet.

 A. Universal Scoop—The Winged Messenger, Mercury, Goes Retrograde: Rest, Relax and Review--or Find Yourself Eschew!!!! Sept. 24, 2008-Oct. 15, 2008
Do you keep your life breathlessly paced? So much to do, so little time? Do you ever wish for a break that’ll allow you to review where you’ve been to gauge better where you’re going? Well, snickerdoodles, the universe has provided the perfect three week period to slow down a bit—rest, relax, and review—to make the most of your busy-busy lives …in fact, we may not have much choice…

I’ll lay it out flat: Mercury Retrograde typically SUCKS. As the planet of Communication, Mercury rules thinking, perceiving, processing and disseminating information…commerce, education and transportation. When retrograde three or four times a year, the typically agile, clear, efficient and zippy winged messenger, appears to be on qualudes, and things seem to be backwards. The best thing to do is roll with the punches, and go backwards ourselves, like Mercury.

Mercury’s not really moving backwards, though; it’s just slowing down. It’s like driving 120 mph on the freeway, when the car beside you is only moving at 50—that car will appear to be going backwards because it’s comparatively slow. Its deceleration makes personal misunderstandings, disrupted or delayed communications, glitches and breakdowns with phones, computers, cars, buses, and trains more likely. These problems typically occur because some crucial informative component has been screwed up. Soooo, kitties….

Try not to make important decisions while Mercury is retrograde, since these decisions may be obfuscated by misinformation, poor communication and general carelessness. Mercury is all about mental clarity and the power of the mind, so when Mercury is retrograde these intellectual characteristics tend to be less sharp, as the critical faculties are dulled. Make sure you pay attention to the small print if you sign any contracts. Also be diplomatic, darlings! Think about your phrasing before speaking or clicking ‘send’ on texts and emails, as things can easily be “taken the wrong way.” Roll with the punches and take measures to ensure the ‘Murphy’s Law’ feeling of this transit does not get the best of you—instead, make the most of it!

Use Mercury’s snail pace to slooooooooow down and re-examine systems, structures and protocol. Review where we’ve been to gauge where you’re going and readjust the procedures if necessary; in fact, “re” is encouraged: redecorate, reorganize, research, read, reconnect, rejuvenate, retrace steps and redo things started before—not only projects, but relationships; a reunion, for instance, is great under the retrograde, because we seem to “pick up where we left off” more readily.

Regarding all this, remain chill from September 24, 2008 to Oct. 15, 2008. Remember that prudent astrologers recommend moving readily forward once Mercury passes the point where he first turned retrograde; so on October 31—just in time for Halloween—we’re really in the clear. REJOICE!

B. Fall Fashion—Astrologically Sound Fashion Choices for the Fall Season
Fashionistas + fashionistos know what to wear this fall—but how to wear it right might require the guidance of the stars. Soooo, let’s look at the heavens to see what will electrify the catwalks of your lives for each astrological month of the Fall….

Fashion throughout LIBRA-Sept. 22-Oct. 22
Venus-ruled, harmonious Libra values comfortable, loose-fitting clothes with sweet pastel colors, while Scorpio on the ascendant at the start of this transit demands a more-intensified first impression. The balance may be powder blue with maroon, or mauve against black. Fit may be equally paradoxical: a tight top with flowing bottom; a flowing top paired with tight jeans, etc. To rectify these contradictions, look to the Cancerean moon....

With the Moon in Cancer at the start of Libra, the best choice for color may be non-committal grays, silvers and even black-and-white. While how we feel is emphasized by the Cancerean moon, we might think that loose, Libran, feel-good clothes are the way to go—but wait!—with Virgo on the midheaven at the start of fall, perfectionism prevails, and good tailoring is desired. The balance: clothing of high-quality fabrication with an expert fit. The challenge will be maintaining comfort while projecting refinement with an understated sense of polish.

JOSHUA’S BRILLIANT FASHION TIP THROUGHOUT LIBRA 2008
SLATE GRAY, BABY! – A darker gray, like a gray-blue (best paired with subtle hints of maroon.) Go for feels-like-heaven fabric with a devilishly precise fit, and details that demand a most-discerning eye.

Fashion throughout SCORPIO—Oct. 22-Nov. 23
IRONICALLY ENOUGH, Scorpio’s transit through sun may be less intense than that of Libra’s. Fashion calls for more fun and flexibility, as dark, intense Scorpionic impulses are diffused by light and airy Gemini on the ascendant. The first impression we want to make may be more playful than dire…try that under a Scorpio sun!

You see, in Scorpio everything typically becomes life-or-death; everything is felt to the Nth degree and we’re apt to move heaven and hell to attain our ends. With Gemini on the ascendant, though, making chit chat, typically loathed by Scorpio, may be the easiest way to attain our ends. Likewise, our style choices should depict a sense of fun and flexibility, indicative of Gemini.  There is not a color under the sun that Gemini will not wear (nothing less than a tragedy at times); throughout Scorpio, the best colors will be yellow, light blues, and orange.

BUT just because Peter-Pan-like Gemini rises as the sun enters Scorpio does not mean the Scorpionic “life is battlefield” mentality is entirely diffused. In fact, the desire to win at the start of this transit is made more willful with the moon’s stint into lusty and powerful Leo. Whereas Scorpio may be more subtle and strategic about attaining their ends, Leo is almost exhibitionistic about what they want to achieve. Typically secretive Scorpionic tendencies throughout the month are made almost theatrical with the moon in demonstrative Leo—so our style choices should reflect what we wish to achieve in the most fun way.

For fun, use IMAGINATION! The midheaven—how we wish to be perceived—is in go-with-the-flow Pisces at the start of the Sun’s journey through Scorpio. This is the opposite of the month’s prior midheaven placement in fastidious Virgo, which decreases the need to have a tailor on retainer. Further, the competitive nature of the month is made more sympathetic with the Pisces moon. Our world will value sympathy; so to win, allow your style to somehow depict a degree of empathy. Maybe those rubber (are they rubber?) bracelets for a cause you’d like to support, or do something that softens your look….put a sprig of heather in your hair (women only!), or blow dandelions upon entering a room (women only!)—I don’t know, be creative!!! As I guy, I’m buying my first pink shirt ever (a nauseating thought) and will drink from an eco-cool Poland Springs bottle. We should all do something that shows the world we value sensitivity in ourselves and others.

JOSHUA’S BRILLIANT FASHION TIP THROUGHOUT SCORPIO 2008
BURNT ORANGE, BABY, combining the intensity of Scorpio, the uniqueness of Gemini and hints of the Leo sun.
ALSO, DEEP ROYAL PURPLE,  touching upon the royalty-complex inherent in Leo as well as the spirituality intrinsic to Pisces.

Fashion throughout SAGITTARIUS—Nov. 23-Nov. 21
The gregarious Sagittarian sun starts on November 21 with Gemini rising, adding even more fun, play and liveliness to this busy-busy time of year. Though vibrant, anything-goes colors are appreciated, the Virgo moon at the start of the transit makes the world crave refinement, so the stylistic bent throughout Sagittarius will require more precision. Knock yourself out and pair turquoise with yellow, but the fit must remain precise, so back to the tailor you go—chop chop!

With the midheaven in Aquarius, the world will be most appreciative of innovation, rebellious creativity and the unexpected. Aim (get it, Sag, archer, aim!) to make fashion statements that are fun with a degree of decorum. The astrological snapshot throughout this transit demands an incredible amount of fun and creativity presented in your own signature style:  In essence, the more discriminating you are in your efforts to perfect your individual image, the better fashionista/fashionisto you’ll be throughout Sagittarian time—so leave 2008 with own refined, inimitable bang. BOOM!

C. FALL TAROTSCOPES —Joshua’s Signature Mix of Tarot and Astrology to help you make the most of Fall!

ARIES (March 21 -April 19)
During the month of Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22), which falls in your solar seventh house of partnerships, you’re becoming more empathic, intuitive and compassionate, feeling much more than usual. This is a step in the right direction even if Scorpio’s transit (Oct. 23-Nov. 22), which falls in your solar eight house of rebirth, may have you letting go of something in your heart you know just isn’t right. Go through catharsis before readjusting your philosophy, and don’t indulge in negative thoughts. Get back on top, Aries—the world needs you there. You have an opportunity to make future decisions based on better knowledge of yourself. In short, if you choose to leave 2008 with not a whimper but with a bang, you will.
Queen of Cups           10 of Swords              Adjustment

TAURUS (April 20 -May 20)
During the month of Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22), which falls in your solar sixth house of work, you’re likely to have a wish come true. Unfortunately, something ends for you during Scorpio time (Oct. 23-Nov. 22), which falls in your solar seventh house of partnerships. In any case, whatever fallout you incur (the wish that came true?) doesn’t matter much by Sagittarian time (Nov. 23-Dec. 21), a time of rebirth for you, in which you’re holding on to what you got in typical Taurean fashion. So basically, whatever you lose in late-October to November wasn’t doing much for your security anyway. Onward and forward, with all your toys intact, you go…
9 of Cups                    10 of Swords              4 of disks

GEMINI (May 21 -June 20)
During the month of Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22),  which falls in your solar fifth house of affection, something ends—thank goodness, too, as it looks like it couldn’t get much worse. By the time we enter the month of Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22), which falls in your solar sixth house of work, you’re on your way to victory yet again, only stronger. In Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 21), which falls in your solar seventh house of partnerships, you’re likely to be in a triangle of sorts. Whether this is a work-related team, a secretive affair, or something French, you’re certain to have met two others that can keep up with your pace—so get things done now so you can give your all in late-November-December.
3 of Disks                   10 of Swords              The Chariot

CANCER (June 21 -July 22)
During the month of Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22), which falls in your solar fourth house of family, you’re working incredibly hard, either at home or work, and are very, very close to hitting the mark. By the time the sun enters Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22), which falls in your house of affection, you’re enjoying the fruits of your labors and most likely, have hit the mark too with a passionate connection. This means transition from one state of affairs to another one by Sagittarian time (Nov. 23-Dec. 21) and a transition—at home, work, or both—is/are eminent. Such successful transitions are a hallmark of your sign, as you make a home for yourself wherever you go—so enjoy the journey, since everyone will be enjoying you.
8 of Disks                   9 of Disks                    6 of Swords

LEO (July 23-August 22)
During the month of Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22), which falls in your solar third house of communication, you’re most likely using your brain too much, when it’s your heart that’s your greatest gift. Elvis once said, “Don’t be cruel,” and here, that applies to yourself as well as the way in which you deal with others.

All the right ingredients are well-mixed throughout Scorpio time (Oct. 23-Nov. 22), when home and family become the epicenter of your world. By the time the sun enters Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 21), you’re feeling affectionate and in-the-know, two places where you really like to be; you’ll stay there, so long as you remember The King’s advice.
Art                   9 of Swords                High Priestess

VIRGO (August 23-September 22)
During the month of Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22), your solar second house of earned income is overflowing with prosperity. Good work, Virgo! Something NEW has been born, or will be born soon, so finish up old business and embark on a new path by Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) when communications take center state. When the sun enters Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 21), home and family will require your attention; make sure you apply the same amount of effort on the home-front as you have at work. The test will be seeing people through different glasses than before. People grow up, Virgo; haven’t you?
Empress        Four of Wands          8 of Disks

LIBRA (September 23-October 22)
Happy Birthday, Libra! Wowzers, with the sun, Venus and Mars are all hanging out in your sign your astrological month, how could you not be a balancing superstar?!? A wealth of opportunities await you, emerging from all you’ve achieved thus far. Closing up one chapter of your life, you open another. Once the sun enters Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22), which falls in your solar second house of earned income, the wheel of fortune spins for you! This magnificent fortune—be it Megabucks, friendship, love, or the perfect job—will lead you to rediscover the joy of communicating, which will be the star-studded aspect of your life once the sun enters Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 21).
Wheel                         10 of Disks                  Lust

SCORPIO (October 23-November 21)
During the month of Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22), you Scorpios are dealing with your karmic roots as the compassionate risk taker/healer who digs deep in understanding what really, really matters for a purpose-driven life. Though typically not driven by greed, you may use money to gauge your progress and your power; if you do, you’re in for a nice surprise once the sun enters your sign Oct. 23-Nov. 22…

It’s all about material reality—but not something as simple as a pay raise, though that’s quite possible, too. It’s all about seeing yourself as a valuable asset in the world, and thus really increasing your self-worth so that you may perceive it through actual tangible re$ults. In Sagittarius, which falls in your solar second house of earned income, the efforts you just recently began to employ will have already begun to bear fruit. Behold the real-world power of Scorpio, where emotional integrity is magical.
Queen of Cups           Ace of Pentacles       Three of Disks

SAGITTARIUS (November 22-December 21)
As if you weren’t gregarious and happy-go-lucky enough, a brilliant, fiery energy enters your eleventh house of friendship as the sun sojourns through Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22). Your charisma is at an all-time high, and your friends and associates bring to the table the same high-level enthusiasm as you. People are finally getting it, Sag, and just in time for when the Sun enters Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) and you have great-great-great news to share. At the same time, a final examination of Who’s the Boss comes about, and the only clue I can offer is that it’s not just Tony Danza who wants call the shots.

None of this will matter much by the time the sun enters your sign. You’ll forget all about what you had emphatically been fighting for, when the spirit of romance enters your identity sector, and you’ll show yourself to be as much as a lover as you are a fighter.
Prince of Wands                   Emperor                    Knight of Cups

CAPRICORN (December 22-January 19)
Oh Capricorn, you’ll be amazed at how much you can accomplish in the month of Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22) when you just grab the tiger by the tail and do things the way you wish things to be done! When you stop trying to do things the right way, and start doing them your way, you’ll wonder why you’ve wasted so much precious time.

By the time Scorpio comes around (Oct. 23-Nov. 22), alighting your solar eleventh house of groups, friends, wishes and expectations, you’ll have to answer to some authority. If that authority is not you, you’ll have your work cut out for you. By the time the sun enters Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 21), which falls in your solar twelfth house of karma, you will be the epitome of goal-oriented activity, and at least closer to navigating your own ship.
Princess of Wands               Emperor                    Knight of Swords

AQUARIUS (January 20-February 18)
During the month of Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22), your personal philosophy will be tested, and grit and determination will have to be employed to run away with the race. It is a competitive time and things will more than likely go your way, but the real challenge will be competing against yourself once the sun enters your career sector in Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22). Here is where fortitude will be necessary, and your dealings must encompass those philosophies you hold true. Things cool down in Sagittarian-time (Nov. 23-Dec. 21), when you chisel yourself a future with your razor-sharp mind.
The Chariot                Lust                Queen of Swords

PISCES (February 19-March 20)
During the month of Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22), which falls in your solar eighth house of rebirth, you may be confused. Which way to turn? Who to become? Did I leave the oven on? Efforts to make everything perfect should be replaced with making yourself feel as perfect as possible. In essence—off the cross, fishies! We need the wood!

Throughout Scorpio, (Oct. 23-Nov. 22), which falls in your solar ninth house of philosophy, you’ll be apt to change your perception of the way the world works. Will you perpetuate martyrdom, or show the world your wishy-washy persona is just bullocks?

By Sagittarian time (Nov. 23-Dec. 21), your solar tenth house of career brings a long overdue transition. It’s a better place, I assure you, so don’t pack the old baggage to this better place, and onward with your strengthened self-worth you swim!

I encourage you all to email  questions, thoughts, ideas, etc., so that you may add to this newsletter, helping  myself and others walk a happier, more spiritual path with practical feet.

A.
UNIVERSAL SCOOP!

Every day, the universe offers us an opportunity to make our dreams come true; but every two weeks marks a particular way in which our dreams may be made manifest: I am talking about the New and Full Moon Cycles.

On the New Moon, the Sun and the Moon are in exactly the same sign—for instance, on July 2-3, both the Sun and Moon will be in Cancer. During this time, it’s good to invoke NEW things for the next two weeks. After those two weeks, we have the Full Moon Cycle, in which the Sun and Moon are in opposite signs (i.e. Sun in Cancer, Moon in Capricorn on July 16), and we will best be served by BANISHING those things we no longer need. You can start up to three days before each cycle, i.e. you could have started invoking new things on June 30, and you could start banishing things on July 13.

In short:
~On the New Moon, July 2, 2008, focus on those new things you want in your life for two weeks. An example Wish List for the New Moon might include the following phrasing:

I wish for a new home, and I will get one by saving money, liquidating certain assets, doing market research and recruiting the help of a referred realtor, etc.

I wish for a new job that will make me happy, and I will achieve this by revising my resume, booking interviews, possibly hiring a job hunter, keeping a positive attitude, etc.

~During the Full Moon Cycle, which starts on July 16 for two weeks, you’ll concentrate on ridding yourself of those things you no longer need. A Banishing List might resemble the following pattern:

I banish my negative thinking regarding my career, by actively pursuing work in another sector and detaching from the negativity in my present office environment.

I remove blocks to finding my dream home, by ridding of all the stuff that I don’t want to take with me, packing those things I want to keep, actively pursuing real estate options, etc.

You may want to use the moon cycles all year long, as to make your actions in sync with the universe; think of it like planting a seed at the right time. Other good times this year to Invoke during the New Moon cycle, and Banish on the Full Moon are listed below.

SUMMER TAROTSCOPES

ARIES (March 21 -April 19)
Your ruler, Mars, will be charging up the area of your chart that rules assignments from July 1 until August 19, creating for you a newfound stability. Keep your eyes on the prize July 26, when Mars sends a brilliant ‘shout out’ to financially beneficial Jupiter. The summer will prompt you to end a major cycle in your life, starting you out on a brand new course come September.
Ace of Pentacles                     The Universe               The Chariot

TAURUS (April 20 -May 20)
Opening up to your emotional/intuitive side is a step in the right direction. You will get a chance for emotional stability near July 10, when fiery Mars tangos with stern Saturn—even if your affections seem to be met with lackluster love. Come Labor Day, when your intellect takes center stage, make sure you incorporate wisdom of the heart for decision-making and finalizations. Avoid gossip by telling only tales your heart would tell.
Queen of Cups                        Four of Cups               Queen of Swords

GEMINI (May 21 -June 20)
A transition in late spring/early summer may have you feeling unsettled; not to worry, though, as your second house, which rules income, will be alit with hope this New Moon. Especially nice, too, will be a day near July 14, when the Sun and Uranus create a glorious angle—this may be the time to seek out more capital.

Express yourself at all costs throughout August, as come September, you could have some artistic masterpiece on your hands, which will help you stay clear of addictive tendencies.

Through the summer, make an effort to not play with people; aim to be forthright and firm rather than deceptive and duplicitous: this may not be easy, as you have yet to make up your mind. Perhaps communicate how you’re feeling, even if you’re not clear on exactly how you feel.
Six of Swords             Two of Swords           The Moon

CANCER (June 21 -July 22)
Happy Birthday, Cancer! And a happy birthday it is. Something new has been born and is galvanizing your senses; believe in what you feel to make your wishes come true, perhaps even by the full moon on July 18, which falls in your relationship sector.

You’re expressing yourself wholeheartedly throughout July, and that’s great. Come August, you’re recuperating from all the sensory stimuli earlier in the summer. This is fine, because love may come around when you’re not ‘at home’ playing ‘mother’. Still, rely on your intuition to govern your actions or lack thereof, as it may be best for you to be subtly in the background. In August, the seeds you’ve been watering will most likely sprout when you’re out of the garden…love is here to stay come September.
The Empress                The High Priestess                  Two of Cups

LEO (July 23-August 22)
Happy Birthday, Leo—and to start celebrating as early as possible, take care of all those pesky duties and responsibilities you will just want out of the way (dental appointments, your car’s oil change, new dishwasher, etc.) Any less than glorious news in July may be actually the best thing that could have happened; you may soon be in an advantageous position to use what you’ve learned to embark on a new course of health, prosperity, trust and long-term security in August. Buy a scratch ticket, readjust your investment portfolio, or ask for a raise.

Though it’s easy to squash the competition come September, remember to polish up your victory with a touch of class—sooooo, before you lacerate, think about how much you had learned earlier this summer, and look onward with eyes of a leader, as some people may not be as “in-the-know” as you.
Princess of Swords                 Ace of Pentacles                     Five of Swords

VIRGO (August 23-September 22)
Leadership is a major theme for you in July, as action and activity-oriented Mars had entered your sign on the first of July. Mars will stay in Virgo up until August 19, so you’ll have lots of extra energy and oomph to initiate a new venture or forge ahead in a relationship. The result: a new wave of wealth and stability to bring you the utmost in security. Action is key; so is confidence: Don’t ask questions to which only you should know the answers; trust yourself and your astute observations to adds zeroes to your bank balance and longevity to your career.
Hierophant                  Princess of Swords                 Knight of Pentacles

LIBRA (September 23-October 22)
How well you wear a velvet glove over an iron hand, Libra. The enjoyment of solitude and the relishing of all its perks will pave the way for a brilliant catch in July. By the full moon on the 18th, home improvements seem to be well underway; and July 22 may be a red letter day, as Mercury and Uranus align brilliantly, sending a jolt to your Mercurial-ruled House of Fame and Honors. Your stellar work, Libra, will create an excellent launching pad for September’s fresh start; it is then, though, you’ll have to deal with others’ conflicting agendas in getting down to brass tacks—let’s hope the zodiac’s diplomat still has what it takes to restore harmony with that untouchable, irresistible charm.
Nine of Disks             Four of Wands                        Five of Wands

SCORPIO (October 23-November 21)
Like Transformers, you Scorpios are more than meets the eye. And there’s nothing like travel to jolt your senses and get you feeling like the new ‘you’ you’ll be reborn into. Acknowledging your desire and letting go of that which no longer serves you—even if it’s your desire—is your ace in the hole. Extra special love days will be July 14 and July 22; such highlights will promote a catharsis conducive to your career come September.
Prince of Cups                        The Lovers                  Nine of Disks

SAGITTARIUS (November 22-December 21)
The sign of “bigger, better, more!” has been more prudent as of late, and expression of the adage, “the more the merrier!” is in order. The weekend of July 26-27 may be the best time to splurge. This may be the highlight of the summer, as sexy Mars will come into contact with your ruling planet, happy-go-lucky Jupiter. This will be a particularly perfect time to celebrate, as right beforehand, on July 25, some great financial news should come your way. Start saving soon after, though, for in September you may have to ‘spend some to get some’ in a move affecting home, work or family.
Eight of Disks                         Ten of Wands             The Hermit

CAPRICORN (December 22-January 19)
Following the established order usually gives you a sense of stability, Capricorn. But August’s uphill battle with what’s expected of you is going to take its toll. Could it be you’re still looking at life through June’s foggy lens? Now is not the time to doubt; dream instead: Jupiter, the planet of happiness, luck, and financial abundance, now in Capricorn, will sensationally aspect the New Moon July 2, paving the way for you to do things in a big impressive way. Break free from the stodgy shackles of tradition, and make the project of a lifetime materialize in your unique way come September.
Ten of Disks                Nine of Wands            Four of Wands

AQUARIUS (January 20-February 18)
Lots of pleasure to be had in July, particularly regarding your career, as some projects seeded in the past will sprout this month. Venus in your opposite sign of Leo from July 12 to August 6 will give you the patience and charisma needed to teach as you learn and learn as you teach. In September, you may be more subtle, remaining in the background as to process the experience of August.
Six of Cups                 Hierophant                  High Priestess

PISCES (February 19-March 20)
When swimmers race, they’re smart to ‘negative split’, saving adequate energy for the home stretch. Let this idea stay in your mind, and you won’t burst a gasket July 10. You’ll still need to get plenty of rest…
A tough day for everyone, July 10 may prove particularly problematic for Pisces, as Mars and Saturn will oppose your sun. Fret not, dear Pisces, as powerful Pluto will have your back that day, orbiting your House of Fame and Honors and thereby prepping you to handle conflict with aplomb. Balance yourself throughout August (bring some work with you to the beach, perhaps) while making sure you do visit the water to get back to work on-point and unflappable.

PRODUCT FEATURE: RELOCATION CHARTS

Most of you clients have had your natal charts done, using the time and place of your births. But what about how your chart correlates with the place you’re at now or the place at which you wish to be? With a possibly different Moon and/or Rising sign, you’re whole personality could potentially change, depending on where you are…

Even a move from Boston to NYC can make a difference (i.e. I’m a double-Aquarius by birth, but a Capricorn rising here in NYC and Sagittarius rising in LA—in essence, I come across as more zany in Boston, more conservative in NYC, and more adventuresome in Los Angeles.)

Such a chart is ideal if you’re thinking about moving to a different vicinity. You’ll find who you’ll be there, and what personality aspects are likely to be more prominent. How does love look for you in England? How might your career pan out in California? These are the questions that a relocation chart can answer. Plus, if you weren’t born in your current locale, how is your personality different here? A relocation chart will give you a look at the you in your current, new or potential stomping grounds; ask for one for your next psychic reading with Joshua.

Whether you want to read cards for yourself or professionally, or you’re serious about tapping into your utmost potential and creating the best you and the best life imaginable, my tarot classes may be right for you. Feel free to let me know what you’re interested in learning, and in what type of setting you’d best learn in, as private classes as well as class sessions are available.

Here’s what some former students had to say:

"Joshua's Tarot classes are a wonderful combination of education, challenge, and fun, and he is a dynamic and compassionate teacher who helps his students learn in ways which are both creative and empowering.  The Tarot has become a central influence in my personal, professional, and spiritual life, and I highly recommend Joshua's classes to anyone who is seriously interested in learning about the Tarot and Tarot reading."  - Grace Sterling Stowell

Josh's tarot classes allowed me to see in a different light the way we experience life. Fun, yet respectful, his approach kept me coming back for more! Thanks Josh, hope all is well, Jennifer B.
